Braxton County Books for Babies returns for fifth year

Braxton Books for Babies is gearing up for a new school year. For the past five school years, they have been working with parents to increase literacy skills from birth to school-enrollment. Books for Babies provides parents with tips that encourage preliteracy skills, along with engaging and educational activities for children. The focus of the program is to instill at an early age the importance of literacy. Parents can register each month to receive a packet that contains books for toddlers. The packets also contain early literacy and math activities for parents to complete with their babies.
Parents can register their child for the program each month, packets are picked up at the Board of Education, followed by a Facebook live event, where the parents and their children participate in toddler-focused activities, such as song and dance videos and a read aloud of one of the month’s book selections. This years’ themes include: fall, farm, opposites, healthy habits, peek-a-boo, emotions/kindness, sharing and spring.
This program provides an opportunity to build a connection with the families of future Braxton County students. The program runs from September to April. For more registration information, please see the Braxton Books for Babies Facebook page.
The 2022-2023 schedule is as follows with subject to change:
September students learn about Fall. Registration starts on September 1, 2022. Packet pickup is on September 13 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Braxton County Board Office. The Facebook Live will be on Friday September 16.
Students go to the farm in October. Registration starts on October 3, 2022. Packet pickup is on October 11 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Braxton County Board Office. The Facebook Live will be on Friday October 14.
In November students learn about opposites. Registration starts on November 1, 2022. Packet pickup is on November 15 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Braxton County Board Office. The Facebook Live will be on Friday November 18.
December is the month to be healthy. Registration starts on December 3, 2022. Packet pickup is on December 13 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Braxton County Board Office. The Facebook Live will be on Friday December 16.
January students will learn about Peek-A-Boo. Registration starts on January 3, 2022. Packet pickup is on January 17, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Braxton County Board Office. The Facebook Live will be on Friday January 20.
In February students learn about sharing. Registration starts on February 1, 2022. Packet pickup is on February 14 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Braxton County Board Office. The Facebook Live will be on Friday February 17.
March students will learn about emotions and kindness. Registration starts on March 1, 2022. Packet pickup is on March 14 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Braxton County Board Office. The Facebook Live will be on Friday February 17.
Spring will be the final learning experience for Braxton Books for Babies in April. Registration starts on April , 2022. Packet pickup is on April 11 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the Braxton County Board Office. The Facebook Live will be on Friday April 14.
