Little Birch Elementary announces top spellers

In preparation for the Braxton County Spelling Bee, students in 2nd through 5th grades at Little Birch Elementary School participated in a school-wide spelling bee recently.
Top spellers in Mrs. Montgomery’s 2nd/3rd grade class included Layla King who captured 1st Place and Allison Marks who came in 2nd Place. Gabe McCourt rounded out the winners with a 3rd Place finish
Top spellers in Miss Harper’s 4th grade class included Marionna George who took 1st Place. Aiden Dorsey followed with a 2nd Place award. Paxton Schrader will serve as the alternate in this age group for the county competition.
Top spellers in Mrs. Berry’s 5th grade class included Cole Salisbury who took 1st Place and Maddison Marks who finished in 2nd Place. Colton Putnam will be the alternate.
Fourth and fifth grade students advanced to the Braxton County Spelling Bee held at the Days Inn & Suites last weekend. Watch Braxton County Newspapers next week for a complete list and photographs of county winners.
