Emogene (Spencer) Smith
Emogene (Spencer) Smith, 89, of Servia, WV, went on to be with the Lord Thursday, April 11, 2024, at home, surrounded by all her family.
Born September 1, 1934, at Strange Creek, WV. She was the oldest daughter of the late William Holbert and Edith Spencer. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack Allen Smith, and siblings, William Jennings (Newt) Spencer and Clemotene Evelyn Mullins.
Emogene is survived by her sister Betty Gill; five children, Michael & Chris Smith of Hillsboro, Molly & Mike Chapman of Servia, Debra & Kevin Ballard of Weaverville, NC, Judy Smith of Gassaway, and Jeffrey (Ted) & Sherry Smith of Servia; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many true friends and neighbors.
Funeral Service were at 1:00 pm Tuesday April 16, 2024, at Wilson Smith Funeral Home in Clay, WV. Visitation was held one hour prior from 12:00 -1:00pm on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. Pastor Joe Bob Truman officiating. Burial will follow at Chapman Cemetery, on Cemetery Road, Flat Fork, WV.

Elsie Ann Isabell
Elsie Ann Isabell, 89 years of age, from Paynesville Rd in Webster County passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Oak Hill Assisted Living, Oak Hill, WV. She is with the Lord in heaven at a big reunion of all her family she has missed for years. She was born March 12, 1935 in Knoxville, TN and was the daughter of the late Virley “Skinny” and Alma Harmon Isabell. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Virgil “Joe”, Ralph and Frank Isabell and sisters, Mary Sears, Bonnie Kelley and Alma ”Toots” Bucchi.
Elsie was a home economics teacher at Webster County High School. She was a great cook, quilter and crafter. She retired after many years to care for her father and mother until they passed. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt to many nieces’ nephews and friends. Elsie was a wonderful woman; her passing has left a void in the hearts of who knew her and she will truly be missed especially by her niece Marsha.
Surviving is her brother, John Isabell; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She leaves behind cherished memories all who knew her and anyone she met. Those who were fortunate enough to know Elsie Ann Isabell will remember her as a great woman and great cook. She is resting peacefully among the angels.
Service was 1:00 PM, Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Eddie Green officiating. Burial followed at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin. Friends joined the family for visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Tara “Susie” Morgan
Tara “Susie” Morgan, 69, of Organ Cave, WV passed away on Saturday April 13, 2024 at Peyton Hospice House following a courageous 9 year battle with ovarian cancer.
Susie was born February 17, 1955 in Gassaway, WV and was the daughter of the late Derstine Perrine.
She was a wife, mother, nurse, farmer, quilt maker, seamstress, crafter and the best cook.
Surviving are her husband Wayne Morgan; daughter Amanda Asbury (Ben) of Jefferson, MD.; son Matt Morgan (Ashley) of Organ Cave, her greatest blessings called her Grandma (6 grandchildren) Audra, Evelyn, Laramie, Harper, Colten and Miles; and sister Roberta Meadows (Bradley) of Gassaway, WV.
Per Susie’s wishes she will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Blue Ridge Center and to Peyton Hospice House.

Charlie Russell Allen
Charlie Russell Allen, 46, of Burnsville, WV, passed away at his home on April 11, 2024.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 14, 1977 to parents Claude and Virginia McCartney Allen. Charlie was a Methodist by faith.
He had a love for music, playing his guitar, airbrushing and was a very talented painter. Charlie is preceded in death by his father, Claude Allen; brothers, Larry Allen, Rodney Allen, Kevin Allen, Johnny Allen and sister, Lisa Allen.
He is survived by his son, Charles Wesley Allen; mother, Virginia Allen; brother, Claude Allen, Jr.
Charlie’s wishes to be cremated will be honored by his family. There are no services planned at this time.

Rose Marie DeMoss
Rose Marie DeMoss, 94, of Strange Creek, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at Harrison on 5th Assisted Living Home in Columbus, Ohio.
She was born in Dille, WV on April 7, 1930, to the late Elmer and Ida Blanche Martin Carte.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Dana DeMoss and her brothers, Reggie Carte and Charles Carte; and sister, Lois Jean Boggs.
Rose was a homemaker. For years she had raised a vegetable garden and she canned thousands of jars from the harvests. She was a beautician and also worked at Big Bear grocery store in Columbus when she was younger. She loved to read the entire Columbus Dispatch Newspaper everyday from front to back. One of her pastimes was doing word find puzzles. Rose was very independent and liked to do for herself.
She will be forever remembered by her son, Wayne DeMoss and wife, Shary, of Columbus; brother, Prentice Carte and wife, Lillian, of Texas; sister-in-law, Alma Jane DeMoss of Birch River, WV; and multiple nieces and nephews.
Her funeral was at Noon on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway with Pastor Joe Bob Truman officiating.
Burial was in the Mount Olive Church Cemetery, Strange Creek.
Rose’s visitation was from 11 A.M. till 12 Noon on Monday at the funeral home.
