Burnsville fire claims two

Two people perished in an early morning blaze on Wednesday, November 29. The alarm, sounded at approximately 5:30 a.m., stated that multiple structures were on fire at 212 Gary Don Lane located off Beech Fork near Burnsville.

Burnsville, Sutton, and Flatwoods Volunteer Fire Departments all responded to the scene. Upon arrival, first responders discovered a wood frame house, a mobile home and an outbuilding totally engulfed in flames. Subsequent investigation revealed that a neighbor’s surveillance camera recorded visible flames over an hour before the call was reported.

Fire officials discovered the bodies of a male and female inside the house which was located just behind the new mobile home which was not yet occupied. The deceased were identified as Judson Alford, 47 and Shelly Bosley age 46.

West Virginia State Police from the Sutton Detachment, headed by Cpl J. D. Jordan and Deputies from he State Fire Marshals office are in charge of the investigation.

The structures were a total loss, and it was determined that the fire began prior to 4:00 a.m. The male occupant was located in the bedroom, and the other occupant was discovered in the bathroom near the bedroom.

At press-time, the cause of origin remains undetermined. The investigation is continuing.
