Olivia Ramsey, daughter of Jason and Jessica Ramsey, obviously stays active whether in or out of school. Listing her activities in school, she named volleyball, FBLA, HISTA, and National Honor Society. She is president of FBLA and has been president of her class all four years of high school. In her free time, she enjoys spending it with friends and family and likes to swim, fish, cook and bake. She is also quite active in her church youth group.
Among her classes during high school, Ramsey’s favorite was Algebra II. “Algebra I is just basics,” she said. “Algebra II gets into different things.” Asked about her favorite teacher, she responded quickly with “Christy Wood.” Explaining why she chose Wood, she said, “She’s my homeroom teacher, and she’s always there for me. She has motivated me and provided guidance. When I need help, she was always there.”
Looking forward, Ramsey will be working toward a career in nursing. “I love to help people. It makes me happy,” she said in the explanation of her choice. “I like to spread kindness and any joy I can give people.” Her plans include attending Glenville State University to obtain her BSN.
When asked about her preparation for college, Ramsey noted she’s a bit nervous. She attributed part of it to the pandemic and distance learning. “I’m a hands-on learner,” she said. “I like to learn face-to-face.” As a result, she, the same as many of her classmates, feels she has missed part of what she should have learned.
Something of which Ramsey is certain is the support she has had. To explain, she said, “None of this would be possible without my family and God. I relied on Jesus the whole time, and I said lots of prayers.”
