Braxton woman among GSU’s Alumni Award Recipients

Glenville State University has announced the names of its 2024 Alumni Award recipients. The honorees include a well-known county resident.

The distinguished group includes Evelyn Post, distinguished county resident, well known for her flushing state wide business Central WV Aging Services, as a Board of Education member former County Commission and for her charitable contributions to a very long list of local individuals and organizations. Post, a 1969 Glenville graduate, has been named as a Community Achievement Award honoree along with fellow GSU graduate of the 1973 class, Dennis Fitzpatrick. Others to be honored this year include: Alumnus of the Year William “Bill” Pitzer ‘81; Alumni Achievement Award recipient Tracy Samples ‘92; Outstanding Teacher Award recipients Kimberly (Handley) Hunt ‘02 and Nancy (Bernola) McVaney ‘81; Outstanding Young Alumna recipient Emma (Bailey) Cogar ‘09; Outstanding Young Alumnus recipients Jesse King ‘14 and Johnny King ‘14, and Posthumous Award recipients Dr. Bill Deel ‘58, Professor Emeritus Jim Rogers ‘63, and Professor Emeritus Charles Scott.

 Alumni and friends of Glenville State University are invited back to campus for the Alumni Awards Banquet on Saturday, April 27. Attendees will gather in the third-floor pre-function area of the Mollohan Campus Community Center from 5:00-6:00 p.m. for a social hour prior to dinner in the Ballroom.

 Other activities are scheduled throughout the weekend that alumni may wish to attend. On Friday, April 26, the Glenville State University Concert Band Concert will take place at 7:00 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. On Saturday, April 27 a Three-Format Golf Outing benefiting the Men’s Golf Team will tee-off at 9:00 a.m. at the Glenville Golf Club, an Alumni Baseball Reunion is scheduled to take place at the Sue Morris Sports Complex beginning at 1:00 p.m., and the Honor Band Concert with Guest Conductor Greg Richmond ‘04 happens at 2:00 p.m. inside the Fine Arts Center Auditorium. Visitors may also wish to arrive early to socialize, tour campus, and reminisce.
