Dr. John Blake Epling, MDJoins WVU-BCMH Staff

WVU Medicine Braxton County Memorial Hospital is pleased to welcome Dr. John Blake Epling, M.D. to the specialty care staff at BCMH.
Dr. Epling completed his medical degree and endocrinology fellowship with honors at Marshall University and completed his residency at West Virginia University’s Ruby Memorial Hospital. As a part of United Hospital Center Endocrinology, Dr. Epling began providing services at Summersville Regional Medical Center part time in 2020. As a Nicholas County native, he held a passion for rural medicine. When the opportunity was presented to provide full time endocrinology services to the community he’d grown up in as well as neighboring Braxton County, he was humbled. To avoid disruption in patient care at UHC, the relocation of his services has been completed as a transitional phase. Having completed the process, Dr. Epling will provide services exclusively at Braxton County Memorial Hospital and Summersville Regional Medical Center campuses.
CEO, Louis Roe commented “We are extremely grateful to Dr. Epling for agreeing to join our care team on a full-time basis. Endocrinology services are of great importance and are much needed in our communities. His dedication to providing quality specialty care to the citizens of rural West Virginia and the very communities he grew up in is commendable. We are pleased to have the ability to expand our services to include Dr. Epling’s scope of practice and welcome him home.”
Dr. Epling’s vast experience, and expertise in advanced level care enables him to provide services for conditions such as adrenal disorders, osteoporosis, parathyroid disorders, pituitary disorders, diabetes and more.
Dr. Epling says he is excited for the opportunity to serve the residents of Braxton, Nicholas, and surrounding counties. He and his wife, Sarah, who is also a native of Nicholas County recently welcomed a son, Maxwell. They are thankful for the opportunity to return to the community they know and love.
Patients interested in scheduling an appointment with Dr. Epling at either location should call (304) 872-8545 or speak with their primary care provider about a referral.
