Mountaineer Food Bank, based in Gassaway, proudly announces a milestone celebration in collaboration with its dedicated partner, Hope Gas, as the energy company marks 125 years of service (September 17, 2023). In commemoration of this significant occasion, Hope Gas is making a generous contribution of $125,000 as a matching gift to Mountaineer Food Bank on Giving Tuesday, accompanied by a commitment of 125 hours of volunteer service through September 2024.

“Hope Gas has provided West Virginia families with safe and reliable natural gas service for 125 years. Our team proudly serves our customers and supports our communities every day. We are dedicated to fostering change throughout our service territory in West Virginia by creating family sustaining jobs, partnering with local businesses and supporting charitable organizations that meet a wide variety of needs for our customers. This donation, in honor of the legacy of caring by 125 years of Hope Gas employees, is a demonstration of our efforts to combat food insecurity for families in West Virginia”, said Morgan O’Brien, CEO at Hope Gas.

This exceptional contribution from Hope Gas directly supports Mountaineer Food Bank’s mission to end hunger in West Virginia. In a remarkable demonstration of collaboration and shared commitment, Mountaineer Food Bank is launching a Giving Tuesday campaign, aiming to raise an additional $125,000 to match Hope Gas’s donation. The collective goal is to double the impact of this collaboration and make an even greater difference in the lives of the neighbors we serve.

“We are thrilled to celebrate Hope Gas’s 125-year anniversary and extend our heartfelt gratitude for their continued partnership,” said Breanna George, Chief of Development at Mountaineer Food Bank. “Their significant donation and volunteer commitment align perfectly with our mission, and the launch of our Giving Tuesday campaign aims to amplify the impact and address the immediate needs of our community.”

The Giving Tuesday campaign will kick off on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, encouraging community members to join the effort in making a positive impact. Donations received during this campaign will be matched dollar-for-dollar, effectively doubling the support for Mountaineer Food Bank’s initiatives.
