Local NWTF Banquet Attracts Sell-out Crowd

The 2024 Mountain Lakes National Wild Turkey Federation Bash was held Friday, March 8th at the Days Hotel in Flatwoods. A crowd of 215 was present for the opportunity to win over $20,000 in prizes and merchandise. The event featured: auctioneer Jimmy Jenkins, music by Brady Slaughter, 27 guns given away as well as various hunting, fishing and home decor related items.
The Braxton County High School football team assisted with the event and received a $500 donation toward their program from the Mountain Lakes Chapter. The first Roy Henderson Memorial Scholarship was awarded to NWTF volunteer Laina Hamner for outstanding service to the chapter. Event organizer, Mike Shaffer stated, “This event would not be possible without great volunteers. I would like to personally thank each of them for their dedication and assistance. A special thank you goes out to Jack Friend for completing the necessary FFL paperwork for 27 items.”
