BCMS baseball team placesthird in weekend at Sherman

Team Scores Big Win Ever Doddridge Tuesday Evening

By Shirley Shuman
The Knights baseball team has seeing success lately. Last weekend they placed third in a tournament at Wahama, and they defeated Doddridge Tuesday. Better hitting and sound pitching contributed to the successes as Coach James Huffman saw some of both in his team’s two wins.
In the first round of the tournament, Wahama beat Braxton 6-1. Braeden Godfrey and Jackson Lewis pitched for the Knights. Regarding his team’s low score, Coach Huffman said that his players “hit the ball well but right at people.”
The Knights defeated Hamlin 9-6 in the second round to win third place. In that game, the coach used three pitchers—Remington Huffman, Landon Hart, and Lewis. The three also produced offensively as each had three hits in the win. Kyle White also hit well in both games, his coach said.
In the 17-4 win over Doddridge Tuesday night, Huffman and Hart were on the mound again. Huffman struck out eight in three innings with only 35 pitches in the win. Coach Huffman noted, “The whole team hit against Doddridge.”
Braxton plays here Thursday night against South Harrison.
