Government, The Braxton Democrat

LegislativeUpdate…By Lori DittmanWV House of Delegates63rd District

April definitely came in like a lion this week. I heard from several constituents about flooding and impassable roads. My husband, Will, and I spent some time driving around the district looking at road conditions. I will be reaching out the Division of Highways to discuss the issue. To report issues with roads, contact the DOH 1-888-WVROADS (1-888-987-6237) or online at www.transportation.wv.gov. It’s impactful for them to hear about the issues from as many people as possible.
With the heavy winds of this last weekend, areas in the district were without power for an extended period. The linemen have been out working hard to repair lines and restore power.
Thank you to the DOH workers for road repairs and the linemen for power restoration. Stay safe out there!
Braxton County Schools are on Spring Break this week. The weather is supposed to warm up and the forecast, for the most part, is dry. I hope everyone has a chance to get out and enjoy early spring in West Virginia. Many students were very much looking forward to the break and I hope they come back refreshed for the homestretch to the end of the school year.
Congratulations to Allie Seusli who was recognized as the Braxton County Teacher of the Year and Kay Holcomb for her recognition as the Braxton County Service Personnel of the Year. Both are well-deserved.
I’m taking advantage of the time off from school to schedule meetings and make visits around the district. I hope to see many of you out and about.
For those in the Gassaway area, the beams are supposed to be set this week for the new bridge construction at the north end of town. Travel delays aren’t anticipated, but please be patient should you encounter traffic stoppage. I’m looking forward to completion of the project and a new safe bridge.
We also have Easter coming up this weekend. There are a number of services and events scheduled at local churches this week and for Easter Sunday. I am looking forward to spending time with family and friends and attending services.
As always, I look forward to hearing from the citizens in the 63rd District. I may be contacted at lori.dittman@ wvhouse.gov and 304-701-8600. On school days, it is easiest to reach me after school hours.
