Deputies A. C. Jordan and A. L. Groves of the Braxton County Sheriff’s Department were on routine patrol in the southern part of Braxton County on Saturday, October 22 when they stopped at the Servia Park and Ride. As they approached the parking area, they witnessed a male and female standing in the back left corner of the facility. As they approached the pair went to a vehicle near the entrance of the facility.
The female who got in the passenger seat of a silver in color Buick, voluntarily offered to produce her driver’s license. While the female, later identified as Josephine Benedetto, 47, of Onondage, NY, was retrieving her license from her purse, Deputy Jordan observed a clear smoking apparatus on the passenger side floorboards. He also detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
Benedetto and the male driver, identified as Scott Ogorman, 50, of the same NY address, were placed in handcuffs while officers searched their vehicle. That search revealed several packages of what later tested positive for cocaine, a large sum of cash as well as digital weighing scales. The illegal substance amounted to 15.33 grams.
The pair was arrested and taken to Central Regional Jail. They have been charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and conspiracy. Both were arraigned before Braxton County Magistrate David Singleton where their bond was set at $25,000 cash only.
Benedetto and Ogorman are currently housed in the Central Regional Jail awaiting additional court appearances.
