Braxton County 4-H Members Participate in Livestock Quiz Bowl

Ten Braxton County 4-H members recently participated in the WV 4-H/FFA Livestock Quiz Bowl at the Mountaineer Cattlemen’s College at Canaan Valley Resort. One junior level and one senior level team competed in the Quiz Bowl designed to test participant’s knowledge of the livestock industry.
The senior team of Emily Brown, Ellen Collins, Lane Friend and Stephanie Singleton earned second place of the 12 teams in the quiz bowl. The junior team of Kasey Armentrout, Mattie Brown, Colden Chapman and Cooper Chapman tied for 9th of 18 teams in their division. Austin Armentrout and Elliott Armentrout competed on a mixed county team with a Grant County 4-H member.
Participants were quizzed about nutrition, animal health, reproduction, physiology, carcass, feeding, breeding, genetics and other general information about the livestock industry. The contest was sponsored by the WV Cattlemen’s Association and the WVU Extension Service.
