USACE to Hold Public Meeting Regarding Burnsville Lake

The Huntington District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a public meeting on May 5 to address questions raised at the September 26, 2024, public meeting regarding the modification of the Water Control Manual for Burnsville Lake.
This meeting is part of the effort to ensure public involvement as per the NEPA requirement prior to a change to the Burnsville Water Control Manual.
The modifications proposed for Burnsville Lake are: documentation of the 2010 change of the maximum summer outflow, reduction of the augmentation flows required to dilute pollution at Elizabeth, and redefinition of the approving official for non-standard operations for actions.
During the initial public meeting questions concerning flooding below the Town of Burnsville from Browns Run, and erosion in the area between the lake and the town were brought to light. The Corps has undertaken a study to evaluate these conditions and will communicate the findings of that study during the upcoming public meeting.
The May 5, 2025, public meetings will be held from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm at the Burnsville Community Center located at 237 Kanawha Ave., Burnsville, WV 26335
