Every April is National Volunteer Month, a time dedicated to recognizing and appreciating the incredible individuals who give their time, energy, and compassion to serve others. At this year’s Annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon held at our Gassaway warehouse, Mountaineer Food Bank honored outstanding volunteers for the 2024 year.
Volunteer Coordinator, Melissa England and CEO, Chad Morrison presented the awards along with words of gratitude. Embracing the beloved “Wild & Wonderful” theme, tables were adorned with stunning West Virginia centerpieces, hand painted by MFB Receptionist, Leah Chicoine. Attendees enjoyed a variety of delicious, local treats graciously donated by lunch sponsors.
“It has been a pleasure working with our volunteers. It warms my heart to see such good-hearted people that are willing to give their time and hard work to help feed others,” said Tammy Gillespie, Branch Coordinator.
Those recognized with awards for the 2024 year included: Lifetime Volunteer – Kathy & John Given, Lifetime Group – Old German Community Church, Volunteer of the Year – Rusty Ware, Group of the Year – Service Station LLC., Becky Frampton, Above & beyond – Denver Drake, Office Volunteer – Naomi Wolford, Volunteer Saturday Group of the Year – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Summer Place Outstanding Volunteer – Bill Hutchison, Summer Place Outstanding Group – Christian Motorcyclists Association, Outstanding School Group – Liberty High School FFA, Outstanding High School Volunteer – Jacob Murphy, Outstanding Middle School Volunteer – Sophia Fields, Outstanding Home School Group – Sand Fork Homeschool Group
