Noah Skidmore ranks 7th in BCHS Class of 2025

By Shirley Shuman

Noah Skidmore, son of Randy and Christie Skidmore, has varied interests and activities at the high school. A member of the Academic Showdown team, which performed well in recent competition, he is also a member of HSTA and the local chapter of the National Honor Society.  In addition, Skidmore plays first base on the high school baseball team. Outside of school, he enjoys lifting weights, spending time with family, and sports.

At BCHS, his favorite class has been Introduction to Engineering.  He explained why. “Up until that class, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. It showed me the engineering process, and I became interested in problem solving in engineering,” he said.

Not surprisingly, Skidmore’s favorite teacher is Shawn Crow, who taught ninth-grade science as well as Introduction to Engineering. “He was the first to tell me about HSTA, and he also told me there was an opening at that time because someone had dropped out,” he said.   Skidmore was accepted into the club and has been a member since that time. He also said that he chose Crow because he likes his teaching style.

It follows that the Introduction to Engineering class and instructor Crow have made the biggest impact on him during high school. Again he mentioned “learning the entire process of engineering” and added “being introduced to CAD” as a big part of that impact.

Skidmore will attend West Virginia University where he will study mechanical and biomedical engineering.  “I chose WVU,” he said “because it has always been the school for me.”  He added, “I  also like the sports there and the environment of Morgantown.”
