I found it interesting this week that legislators from both parties criticize the legislature for their lack of action on important topics. Obviously, agreements of the two parties are few and far between these days, so perhaps that is what caught me by surprise when prominent republican Senator Mike Stuart took to publicly criticizing the legislature which his party controls.
It really doesn’t have to do with party affiliation, but I have said several times that this republican led legislature spends more time fixing things that aren’t broken than they do attacking real problem. Mike Stuart’s comments make it apparent that many of those directly involved in the process have similar frustrations.
At any rate, there is only one more week in this session for action or inaction. I certainly hope there will be productive results when we look back at the session following next Saturday’s final gavel.

I believe I have finally turned the corner regarding the crud that has adamantly disrupted my life over the past three weeks. At least I hope so. Boating season is just around the corner and we have lots to do to get ready for summer fun on the lake.
We got what I think will be good news late last week. Daughter Krystal has been hired to be the new manager of Sutton Lake Marina. While the change was announced late last week by the owner, Krystal has already realized that she has her work cut out for her. The winter wasn’t kind to the docks and there is an ocean of repairs to be done to the facility before it can safely entertain guests. While her first day is not officially until the 15th she is already hard at work on the transition with Erica Whitney who has held the position for the past few years.
I think Erica got a lot of undo criticism. I know she and Tim love the lake and have always worked to insure the facility’s service to the local and tourist communities. Krystal has that desire as well. She has literally grown up on those docks and is committed to creating a safe and enjoyable place for summer recreation. Obviously, it will not happen overnight, but I am confident it will happen… we just need to be patient.
