Second person arrested in connection with Riffle death

Following the discovery of the body of 36-year-old Belinda Riffle on March 17 in a remote area of Braxton County, the Sutton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police has conducted an in-depth and ongoing investigation.

Officers arrested Christopher Lacy of Burnsville on charges of concealment of body and failure to render aid earlier in the month. This week a second arrest was made in the case.

On Tuesday, March 18, Trooper B.J. Wiley reviewed Belinda Riffle’s West Virginia EBT Card transaction history and discovered it had been utilized on February 22 which conflicted with the investigation’s account of Ms. Riffle, at a local Go-Mart.

Trooper Wiley contacted Go-Mart officials and made arrangement to view security footage of the time frame. The surveillance revealed a white female with brown hair making the purchases. Further investigation led the officer to identify the female as Lacie M. Rose, 44, of Dixon, IL.

Rose was located and charged with two counts of unauthorized use of West Virginia benefits.

She was arraigned before Magistrate Beth Smith where she posted a $10,000 bond and is currently free on that bond awaiting additional court appearances.

The investigation is continuing.
