Dottie Jean Carr
Dottie Jean Carr, 80, of Frametown, entered her heavenly home on Sunday, March 23, 2025.
She was born on September 15, 1944, in Braxton County, to the late Dorothy Hamrick Cash and Cecil Cash.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Freddy L. Carr and her six siblings.
Dottie was employed by Braxton County Board of Education as a cook and cafeteria manager for 30 years. Her passion was not just providing a meal, but it was showing love to the staff and schoolchildren. She enjoyed flower gardening and taking care of her home and yard. She lived for her grandchildren. Dottie was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Going to the Braxton County Jamboree with her friends was one of her favorite pastimes. Dottie thought the world of her neighbors, Roger and Debbie James, and Gary, Amanda and Elizabeth Cunningham and many more.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Freddie Lou Carr (Cynthia): daughter, Brenda Baird (Dee); granddaughter, Myriah Baird; great grandchildren, Iris, Clay, and Waylon; several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law (who was more like a sister), Margaret Martin (Ken) and their sons, Jim Moyers (Mindy) and family and Brian Martin.
A gathering of family and friends was from 2 to 4 P.M. Sunday, March 30, 2025, at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway, WV.

Virginia “Pearl” Jordan
Virginia “Pearl” Jordan, 86, of Ireland, WV, was called home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2025. She was born on June 3, 1938, to parents James Fisher and Icie Ware Fisher.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Jordan; daughter, Delilah Groves; granddaughter, Brenda Harris; great-grandchildren, Virginia Jo Davis and three infant girls; brothers, Howard Fisher, William Fisher, and Dana Fisher; sisters, Francis Slaughter and Rella Hinkle; Robert Fisher, Elizabeth Casto, and Louis Ware.
She is survived by her children, Harmond Jordan and wife Darlene of Ireland, WV, Vernila McCartney, Della Humphrey and husband Calvin of Ireland, WV; grandchildren Arnold McCartney, Robert McCartney, Pamela Lane (Jason), James Jordan, Darlene Wyne (John), Daniel Jordan, Deleta Riley Riddle (Bobby), Karla Riley, Vernon Groves, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Pearl was a Christian by faith. She loved her family dearly and cherished the time they spent together. Pearl loved her grandbabies beyond measure. She enjoyed cleaning ramps, loved canning vegetables, and tending to her garden and flowers. Pearl also loved all her animals.
Service for Pearl was held at 12 pm, Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Stockert Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV. Visitation was one hour before the service from 11-12 p.m. Burial is in the Fisher Cemetery.

Victor Ryan Lambert
Victor Ryan Lambert passed suddenly on March 20, 2025 at the age of 40. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Ellen Lambert and his grandparents Victor and Irene Lambert. He is survived by his sisters April Wilkewitz (Damon) of Summersville, WV and Susan Tran (Jerry) of Friendswood, TX, cousin Donna Lambert of Strange Creek, WV, niece Rachel Frame (Daniel) of Huntington, WV, and nephew Samuel Wilkewitz of Summersville, WV.
In his youth, Victor enjoyed riding horses, playing sports, and being ornery. Victor has always had a big personality. He could make you laugh, make you cry, and then tell you the most random history facts. He was a proud veteran having served four years in the U.S. Navy traveling to Japan, Australia, and other parts of the world. A great source of pride for Victor was working with his dad to establish the Strange Creek Farm Storage Units.

Calvin “Carl” Martin
Calvin “Carl” Martin age 89 went to his Heavenly home March 25,2025.
Born June 25 1935 to Ira J. Martin & Gracie B. Martin. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kenneth Martin, his sister,Wanda Martin Davis and his loving wife Livia C. Martin.
He was the father of four sons, Joseph Martin & wife Scholastica, Louis Martin & wife Tanya, Anthony Martin & wife Robin, Larry Martin & wife Dreama.
He was blessed with grandchildren, Christopher Martin & wife Kelly, Tiffany & Husband Vance VanderKolk, Brittany & husband Robert Beaudoin, Mallory & husband Joe Evans, Morgan & husband Jess Simmons, Madison & husband Brian Novak, Mykenzie & husband Ryan Hunt. 15 precious great grandchildren & 2 great great grandchildren.
Carl graduated from Nicholas County High School after graduation he went to Ohio and worked as a steel worker, he also worked on building the Sutton & Summersville Dams & retired as an electrician for Island Creek Coal Company.
Most will remember him for telling stories of the past & telling jokes with his friends & family. Carl had a great memory of all his friends & family members and talked of them often.
Funeral services were held 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Pastor Chris Tatman officiating. Burial followed at Cox Cemetery, Birch River. Friends called 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

Janet Lee Hollandsworth
Janet Lee Hollandsworth, 78, of Boggs, WV passed away on March 21, 2025. She was born on September 24, 1946, in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late Matthew Brown and Anna Lee Spinks Kyer.
Janet was a homemaker. She enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys, the WVU Mountaineers and Elvis, as well as reading and her Siamese cats. The family would like to thank the Webster Health Care Center for their kindness and care of our loved one.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her half-brother, Jim Smith and half-sister, Patty Jo Rukadina.

Daniel Lee Fisher
Daniel Lee Fisher, 68 of Erbacon, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at home surrounded by his family. He was born October 19, 1956 in Braxton County and was the son of the late Homer Boggs and Virginia Fisher. He was also preceded in death by his son, Daniel Matthew Fisher.
Daniel worked 14 years at Appalachian Timber Service in Braxton County until his health declined. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mechanic work, carpentry work, going ramp digging, looking for mushrooms and was a jack of all trades. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife, Mabel Dillon Fisher; son, Bobby Lee Fisher and his wife Sashia; grandchildren, Matthew David Lee Fisher, Chase Allen Fisher and Nevaeh Fisher.
Services were 3:00 PM, Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Eddie Green officiating. Burial followed at Hickory Flats Cemetery. Friends joined the family for visitation two hours prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.

Richard Merrill Clendenin
Richard Merrill Clendenin, 80, of Craigsville, WV, passed away on March 18, 2025. He was born, November 17, 1944, in Beckley, WV, a son of the late James Clendenin and Evelyn Garten Clendenin.
Richad was an Army Veteran and was previously a coal miner for Pittston Coal Company. He was a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Clendenin, Jr., Lee Moore Clendenin and Marshall Clendenin, and son, William Clendenin.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Sharon Clendenin; son, Timothy Clendenin and daughter Jessica (Arlie J.) Hamrick; sister, Pamela (Johnny) Johnston; grandchildren, Kristen Clendenin (Kyle Robinson), Heather Clendenin; and great grandchild, Raelynn Robinson.
A private family burial was held at WV Memorial Gardens in Calvin, WV.

David Jack Keffer
David Jack Keffer, 72, passed peacefully at Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV on March 16, 2025. He was born on February 24, 1953, the son of the late Agnes and Clyde Keffer. Jack grew up on Cranberry Ridge, in Camden on Gauley, WV.
Jack had a good sense of humor. He always loved to joke and play pranks. He loved watching westerns, Hee Haw, comedy, and Looney Tunes. Jack always enjoyed company visiting. He will be dearly missed by his siblings, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Agnes “Birdie” Keffer and Clyde Edward Keffer, he was preceded in death by one sister, Naomia Keffer.
Surviving is his brother, Gary Keffer, Sr. of Craigsville, sisters, Norma Hinkle of Summersville and Patricia Fletcher of Ohio, and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 23, 2025 at Morris Funeral Home in Cowen with Pastor Jim Varney officiating. Burial followed at Russell Cemetery on Cranberry Ridge. A gathering of family and friends was held from 12:30 pm until the time of the service on March 23, 2025 at the funeral home.

Paul Bennett Williams
Paul Bennett Williams, 72 of Webster Springs passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.
He was born March 11, 1952 in Lick Run to the late Raymond and Lillian Rose Williams, Sr. and was a carpenter by trade.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, carpentry, and spending time with his family. He was Pentecostal by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Linda Cogar Williams; granddaughter Samantha Williams; and brothers: Clyde, Raymond, Douglas, Bradley, Jacob, William, Stanley, and Pete Williams.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons: Paul (Rose) Williams, Jr. and Hank (Lisa) Williams; brothers Robert Williams and Thomas Williams; grandchildren: Hank Jr., Isaiah, Whitney, Hannah, and Marlena Williams; seven great-grandchildren; and several extended family and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services to celebrate Paul’s life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with Pastor Paul Rounds officiating. Burial will follow in Cutlip-Lick Run Cemetery, Hacker Valley.

Jodeen Annette Spiker McCourt
Jodeen Annette Spiker McCourt, 81 of Webster Springs passed away on March 20, 2025 with her family by her side. She was born in Freemont, Nebraska on April 21, 1943 to the late Leroy and Bernice (Hugleman) Spiker.
Jodeen attended and graduated from Blair High School, then married the love of her life, Jennings, on May 11, 1962. They moved to Ft. Benning, GA where they resided until returning to WV. She was a homemaker, spending most of her time with her family.
Jodeen is survived by one daughter: Shelly (Fred) Velasco; one son: Mark McCourt; grandchildren: April Cochran, Amber (Scott) Hamrick, James Cochran, Tyler Neal, Gage (Deaunna) McCourt, and Jenna McCourt; great-grandchildren: Lottie and Aryana Hamrick; and one expected due in September; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends to mourn her passing.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jennings; parents; and siblings: Ron, Bill, Richard, and Gayle; all of Nebraska.

Darrel David Evans Sr.
Darrel David Evans Sr., 81, of Erbacon, WV, was called home on March 24, 2025. He passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born to the late Fred and Eliza Evans, Darrel lived a life of dedication, hard work, and love for his family. He was immensely proud of his military service, serving a total of 20 years—half in the National Guard and half in the U.S. Army. After his time in the military, he worked tirelessly for 30 years at Fayette Block and Supply in Muddlety, WV, where he built a reputation for his strong work ethic and unwavering commitment. That same commitment was most beautifully seen in his marriage to his beloved wife, Mary Ellen. Their love was the steady foundation of their family – a lifelong partnership built on devotion, patience, and deep affection. Through every season of life, he remained faithfully by her side.
Darrel is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Ellen Evans (Scott), and his loving daughters, Tammy Sartin (Steven) and Juanita Nicholas (Richard). He was also dearly loved by his daughter-in-law, Kathy Evans (Bailes). He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Darrel David Evans II, who passed away in March of 2019. He is also survived by his three sisters, Louella Belknap, Audra Keener, and Loretta Bragg.
Darrel’s legacy lives on through his grandchildren: Santanna Grace Boggs (Clayton) and their child; George Thomas Plymale II and his four children; Mary Louise Plymale (Tommy Davis), their three children, and one grandchild; Havanna Renee Lanham and her two children; Michael Allen Sartin (Steffani) and their three children; Sara Marie Grey (William) and her two children; Steven Tyler Evans; Makayla Cheyenne Evans (Teddy Neil) and their child; and Mahala Elizabeth Morgan Sartin. His family was his greatest pride, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Darrel will be remembered for his steadfast love, his service to his country, and his dedication to those he held dear. His family finds comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his beloved son and other loved ones who have gone before him.
A funeral service will be held to honor his life at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home in Sutton, WV, on March 29, 2025 at 1:00 pm with Rev Earl Cayton officiating. Graveside rite followed at Rose Hill Cemetery, Birch River, WV with American Legion Post #33. Family and friends were invited to gather from 11:30 to 1:00 in remembrance of a man whose presence will be deeply missed but whose love and legacy will remain forever in our hearts.

Carrie Autumn Adams Williams
Carrie Autumn Adams Williams walked into the arms of Jesus at her kitchen table at noon-time on Wednesday, March 19, 2025.
Carrie was born to the late Ruth Adams Gibbs on August 11, 1949, at Sutton Hospital. She was a 1967 graduate of Richwood High School. Affectionately known by her family as Honey, Baby Doll, Sweetheart, Mom, Nanny, and sometimes as “Carrie Autumn!!”, she was a devoted Pastor’s wife of 42 years, supporting her husband in the ministry. Over her long employment career, Carrie worked at Sacred Heart Hospital, Richwood News Leader, Bright of America, and 23 years as a postal worker, ending as Postmaster at Camden on Gauley.
On December 29, 1979, Carrie and Keith gave their hearts to Christ at an “old-fashioned altar” at Gauley Mills Baptist Church. Accepting Christ as her Savior was the best decision of her life. The next best thing was marrying her husband and the love of her life, Keith, on July 6, 1968. Together with the Lord, they built their home, raised their family on Gauley River for 43 years, then moved to the Little Glade community in 2016.
Carrie leaves behind her best friend and devoted husband of 57 years, Pastor Keith Williams, whom she met at 13 years old. Two daughters and their husbands: Dr. Tara Autumn and Dr. Dan Hartley, Morgantown, WV; Paula Erin Armstrong, MSN, RN; and Pastor Terry Armstrong, Bridgeport, WV. Her pride and joy, four grandchildren: Madelyn Erin Armstrong, a sophomore at West Virginia Wesleyan College; Mallory Autumn Hartley, a senior at Morgantown Christian Academy; Ethan Patrick Hartley, a freshman at Trinity Christian School; and rounding up the rear, Solomon Paul Armstrong, a first grader at West Taylor Elementary School.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph “Sox” and Phelma Autumn Adams.
Funeral services were held at 1 pm, Monday, March 24, 2025, at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Terry Armstrong officiating. Visitation was held Monday, March 24, 2025, from 11 am – 1 pm. Burial took place at West Virginia Memorial Gardens, Calvin, WV.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff at Summersville Memorial Hospital and Camden Clinic for their compassionate care, Sherry Roach for all of her help over the years, and neighbors Angie and Larry Hoover. Shelva Jean Felton Whipkey
Shelva Jean Felton Whipkey, 86, of Wheeling, WV, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025, at Valley Hospice in Steubenville, OH. Born on March 30, 1938, in Paden City, WV, she was one of nine children of the late Charles E. and Mary L. Mercer Felton. Family was important in her life, and she maintained close relationships with her siblings throughout her years.
Shelva was very talented in art and crafts finding great joy in crafting lifelike dolls as well as designing and building dream doll houses. Her talent brought joy to many. Animals held a very special place in her heart, especially loving dog, Buddy. Her love of animals extended to exotic birds, having raised dozens throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald Frederick Richard (d. Oct 1972) and Ira Perrine (d. March 1977), as well as her siblings: Forrest “Bill” Felton, Mildred Yost Lightner, Gertrude Leasure, Carol Loy, Lenora Gilmore, Goldie Ellen, Iva Clark, and Kay Lightner.
She is survived by her partner, John “Boo” Wells, and her children: Sharon Richard of Wheeling, Gerald F. Richard (Debbie) of Reader, WV, Barbara Dalton (Johnny) of Floyd, VA, Lisa Dowell of Kansas City, MO, and David Whipkey (DeAnna) of Gassaway, WV. Shelva’s legacy continues through her nine grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.
The family’s gratitude extends to Rosie Cornish whose care and friendship brought comfort and solace to Shelva. And to the compassionate souls at Valley Hospice, their nurses, who provided gentle care and support in her final days, a heartfelt thank you.
A private service will be held to honor her memory at a later date. Margaret Louise Harris
Margaret Louise Harris, 96 of Cowen passed away Thursday, March 20, 2025 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown. Margaret was born April 17, 1928 in Richmond, VA and was the daughter of the late George and Mary Perkins Jones. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Arthur J. Harris, Sr and her son, Arthur J. Harris, Jr.
Margaret was a strong prayer warrior; she was a member and served as a Sunday School teacher at Love & Life Fellowship Church, Williams River. She enjoyed fishing, mowing her yard, planting flowers in her flower beds, listening to gospel music, going to yard sales, long drives on the Scenic Highway with a roadside picnic and spending time with her furry companion kitty, Mandy.
Surviving are her caregivers, Kathy Dillion and Laura Armentrout; nieces, Peggy Richie and Alice Martin; two grandchildren, Aaron Harris and his wife Alice and Crystal Draper and her husband Greg and Carlene April; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; close friends, Felisha Barton, Nancy Robert, Retha Russell and Jenny Riffle and also her church family at Love & Life Fellowship.
Margaret’s Going Home Celebration was held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 29, 2025 at Love & Life Fellowship 328 Williams River Rd, with PCG Bishop Gregory Hatfield and US Navy Chaplain Jim Dyer officiating. Friends may join for visitation 11 AM until service time at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow at Handschumacher Cemetery, Upperglade.
