Sylvia Helen (Ellis) Mallion
Sylvia Helen (Ellis) Mallion, 66, of Camden, WV passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 after an extended illness. She was born in Clarksburg, WV on October 15, 1958, daughter of the late Harold V. and Helen (Weber) Ellis.
Sylvia is survived by 3 brothers, Phillip Ellis and wife, Ruth of Weston, Thomas Ellis and wife, Kathy of Jane Lew, and William Ellis and wife, Carol of Gassaway, 3 sisters, Carol Frame and husband, Joe of Gassaway, Susan Murphy of Weston, and Elizabeth Hawkins and husband, John of Exchange, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her sisters, T. Jeanne Ellis and Mary Grace Ellis.
Sylvia was a graduate of Braxton County High School and the WV Career College of Fairmont. She was Catholic by faith. Sylvia was an avid reader and loved listening to a variety of music while working on her crafts. She touched many lives with her dry sense of wit.

Harold Lynn Williams
Harold Lynn Williams, 78, of Sutton, passed away Monday, January 13, 2025 at Crestview Manor Healthcare, Jane Lew, WV.
He was born July 17, 1946 in Meadville, PA, the son of the late Holly Harold & Georgina Davis Williams.
He was a Steel Mill worker, a Security Guard for Braxton Memorial Hospital and Oneida Coal Company, and was a Christian by faith.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda Davis Williams; son, Terry Williams of Sutton; daughters, Tammy Williams Mace (Carl), Teresa Williams Mace (Jeff), Tracy Williams McCraw all of Sutton; sister, Debra Bloom of Uniontown, PA; grandchildren, Allen Mace, Ashley Rinehart, Cody Mace, Billy McCraw, Robert McCraw, Summer McCraw, Scott McCraw, Melinda Morrison, Josh Williams; and 17 loving great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev. Robey Godfrey officiating. Burial followed at Barnett Cemetery, Sutton. Friends called one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Evelene D. Rexroad
Evelene D. Rexroad, 88, of Chapel Route, Gassaway, went home to be with the Lord at WVU Medicine Braxton County Memorial Hospital on January 14, 2025 surrounded by her family.
She was born August 20, 1936 in Braxton County a daughter of the late Lele and Jennie Cunningham Dobbins.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Rexroad; sister, Emolene Rose; brother, Delvin Dobbins; great grandson, Landon Rexroad; grandson, Matthew Oney.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Jimmy Rexroad (Darlene), Ronny Rexroad (Mary) and Eric Rexroad (Deanna); grandchildren, Gary Rexroad, Justin Rexroad (Yada), Nathan Rexroad (Sylbie) and Tony Carr (Courtney); great grandsons, Brandon Rexroad and Colt Carr; great granddaughter, Khloe Rexroad; sisters, Wavelene Jenkins and Evelyn Gum both of Gassaway, Josephine Burns of Ohio; brothers, Melvin and Elvin Dobbins both of Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
Evelene was a Christian and a lifetime member of the Crooked Fork Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Evelene’s funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2025 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway. Interment was in the Crooked Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Perkins.
Visitation will be from noon till time of service at the funeral home.

Naomi Effa “Eppy” Sears
Naomi Effa “Eppy” Sears, 73 of Webster Springs, went home to be with her Lord and family in Heaven on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown.
She was born December 9, 1951 in Philippi to the late Earl Thornton and Lillian Marine Skeens Tracy and was a lifelong resident of Webster County. She was a member of Upper Holly Union Mission Church and attended when her health permitted. She also was a Sunday School teacher. Eppy was a loving Christian, Mother and Nanny. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and playing games on her phone. She previously was a caretaker for the elderly and volunteered at Diana Grade School when her girls were in school and was known as the “Popcorn Lady”.
Eppy loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. She always wore a smile and was the most kindhearted person you would ever meet.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lindell “Dink” Tracy; sisters: Sondra O’Dell and her husband Bill, Linda Cowger, Veda Hamrick and her husband Frank, and Ellen Sturm and her husband Howard; brother-in-law Gary Cochran; sister-in-law Karen Tracy; special friend Bessie Pritt; and several nieces.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband Chester Sears; daughters: Amanda (Dwayne) Green and Leslie (Ben) Dillon; grandchildren: Zachary Green, Karolynn Green, Payton Dillon, and Skylar Dillon; brothers: Earl Tracy and Richard (Dee) Tracy; sisters: Sue Cochran, Edna (Phillip) Channell, Becky (Shane) Hamrick, Willa (Curt) Davis, and Molly (Ben) Crites; brother-in-law Doyle Cowger; very special friend Kenny Pritt; many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends to mourn her passing.
Celebration of Life Services were held on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs with Pastor Dwayne Green and Evangelist Ben Dillon officiating.
Friends joined the family for visitation two hours prior to service time, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home.

Robert Paul Cottrill
Robert Paul Cottrill, 84, of Gretna, VA formally of Birch River, passed away at his residence Saturday, January 18, 2025.
He was born May 24, 1940 in Sutton to the late, Wheeler & Bervie Adkins Cottrill. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Icie Maggie Barnett Cottrill; son, Robert Cottrill, Jr.; brothers, Rex Cottrill, Sherman Cottrill; sisters, Margaret Douglas, Virginia Perry, Frances Belknap.
Robert is survived by daughters, Julie Barnett (Phillip) of Gretna, VA, Angelia Barnett (Orville) of Birch River. He is also survived by grandchildren, JR Barnett, David Barnett, Brad Cottrill, Nathan Barnett; great grandchildren, Chance Barnett, Summer Barnett, Dakota Barnett, Drake Barnett, Dillon Cottrill, Jacob Cottrill, Rhys Shelton, Axle Shelton, Easton Barnett, Galaxy Barnett; two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Birch River Volunteer Fire Department, Birch River, WV. Friends may call 12:00 to 1:00 at the fire department. Burial will follow at Birch River Cemetery, Birch River, WV

Donald Homer Barker
It is with great sorrow we announce the passing of Donald Homer Barker, age 75, of Exchange, WV. On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Donnie entered into his peaceful slumber.
He was born September 10, 1949 in Sutton, WV. A son of Walter Barker and Mary Helen Sponaugle.
Donald was a 1970 graduate of Braxton County High School. After graduation, he worked as a mail carrier after his father, then continued on to work at a local part store. Later on, he drove truck before obtaining his Master Electrician title where he used this and made it his life long career in the coal mines of over 40 years.
Donnie was a member of Sunrise Church and attended regularly and will be missed dearly by his church family.
Donald was known by many for his musical abilities. He was an avid guitar player and singer. He sang in a Gospel Quartet as a teenager in the 1960’s.
He was an avid outdoorsman. He shared his love of hunting and fishing with his children. He was the president of Mid State Archers for over a decade. He was eager to pass on the love of archery to any interested youth in the community.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his brothers Joseph and James Barker and sister Kathy Hamner.
He is survived by his ex-wives, Susan Willis of Ohio, and Robin Reeder of Gassaway, WV. Also survived by his sister Sharon (Mike) Stump of Fenwick, WV, his brother Jack Barker of Gassaway, WV; his children, Christopher (Jennica) Barker of Exchange, WV, Andrew (Gabrielle) Barker of Clarksburg, WV, Heather (Samuel) Norman and Monica (Caleb) Harper, both from Sutton, WV. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Donald enjoyed spending time with his 14 grandchildren. Surviving grandchildren, Alli, Taylor, Caitlyn, Jacob, Andalyn, Peyton, Claire, Trevor, Cole, Nathan, Kinley, Brynn, Jayden and Jasmine. Donnie had yet to meet his surviving great granddaughter who is expected to arrive in July.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm, Sunday, January 26, 2025 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev. Dennis Shaver officiating. Friends may call 11:30 to 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
