Patsy Ann Rose
Patsy Ann Rose, 82, of Sutton, went home to be with the Lord while at her son’s home (Chip) in Wheeling, WV on December 28, 2024.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother for the Rose family. She was a member of the Polemic Run Baptist Church and belonged to the DAV auxiliary.
Patsy was born May 25, 1942 in Fairmont, WV the daughter of the late Clyde Burl & Mae Ellen Conner Westfall. Also preceding her in death was her husband, Vernon Gail Rose, Sr.; son, James Rose; sister, Carol Sue Slaton; granddaughter, Rachel Rose.
She is survived by her son, Vernon “Chip” Rose, Jr. (Crystal) of Wheeling; daughter, Anna Rose of Oak Hill, WV; brother, Clyde Burl “Sonny” Westfall, Jr. (Barbara) of Sutton; sisters, Alice Smallwood (Donald) of Sutton, Tiffany Westfall of Charleston, Florence “Topsy” Scarberry of Nitro, WV; grandchildren, Nathan Rose (Amber), Amanda Meyer (Zane); great grandchild, Emma Joy Renay Meyer. She also thought of as her grandchildren, Jesse Howard (Sarah), Waylon and Aaron, Paul Howard (Hannah), Jacob Howard (Sarah), Isaac and Jennie and Luke, Donnie Howard (Kimmie), Mia and Ritchie.
Funeral services were held 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Polemic Run Baptist Church with Rev Vernon Rose, Jr. officiating. Burial followed at the Tinney Cemetery, near Sutton.

Richard James Harris
Richard James Harris, 62, of Erbacon passed away due to a sudden illness on December 28, 2024. He was born in Braxton County on December 25, 1962, to James “Bill” William Green and the late Thelma Harris Green.
Richard worked in the coal mines for 23 years. He has been a faithful and committed member of the Erbacon Volunteer fire department since February 18, 1985. Richard was the elected fire chief for six years.
Before becoming disabled, Richard loved to fish, hunt and enjoyed camping every summer along the Gauley River with his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Thelma Green.
Left to cherish his memory is his best friend and wife of 39 years, Fleshia, and his baby dog Lilly; father, Bill; and brothers Kennith and Robert; and sister, Carolyn, as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Richard will be greatly missed by his loving wife, his dog Lilly, Richard’s family, Fleshia’s family, the members of the Erbacon Fire Department and the entire Erbacon Community.
Services were held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at Morris Funeral Home in Cowen with Pastor Marsha Crites officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Park in Erbacon. A gathering of family and friends were held from 12:00 pm until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.

James Tabor
James Tabor, 90, of Erbacon, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024 at Mon-General Hospital in Morgantown.
Born May 4, 1934 in Fannin County, GA, he was the son of the late Joseph and Aslene Adlue (Barnes) Tabor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charlie Joe Tabor; and grandchildren: Julie Graham and Cody Crist.
James was known throughout his life as being a hard-worker; he loved and was proud of working in the sawmill in Georgia and brought his craft back home to the mountains of West Virginia in 1982, eventually finding a permanent home with his loving wife in Erbacon in 1989. He enjoyed fishing and camping. James was a self-proclaimed Western aficionado; he particularly enjoyed watching movies from collections with actors like John Wayne, Roy Rogers, and Gene Autry.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years and 10 days, Betty Ann (Grizzle)Tabor; children: Charles Tabor (Cecile), Cindy Tabor, Violet Syner, and Daniel Tabor (Mary); brother, Howard Tabor (Dottie); sisters: Hattie Smith, Gladys Ogle, and Ethel Tabor. He was also a very proud grandfather to a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he adored.

A. Josephine Coberly
A. Josephine Coberly, 90, of Glenville entered into her heavenly home on Monday, December 30, 2024, surrounded by her family at WVU Medicine United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV.
She was born on August 31, 1934, in Knapp, WV in Braxton County, to the late Lucile Sumpter Gerwig and Orville Gerwig.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her twin brother, Dane K. Gerwig; and her unborn grandson, Bryan Slaughter.
Jo was a graduate of Gassaway High School and she completed one extra year of secondary education concentrating on home economic classes. After high school she moved to Ohio and began working in Elyria as a secretary in an Agricultural Department. Her brother asked her to go on a blind, double date where she met her future husband and later married him on October 13, 1956. In February of the next year her husband entered the military, and by May he had finished Adjutant General’s School. Several months later she met him in Germany where he was stationed confirming her love for him, following him across the world. The two of them finally made their way back to the states where both their children were later born in Ohio. Her husband secured a job working for Mon Power and their family ended up in Glenville. Jo was a homemaker that loved to sew, knit, cook and garden. She enjoyed traveling in the car for trips in the autumn to see the changing landscape. She loved to garden both vegetables and flowers and enjoyed eating ramps. She was a cat, dog and horse lover. She was a current member and regularly attended Camden Flats Church, Glenville. She adored her family.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 68 years, Rolland Clark Coberly; daughters, Rolanna Gumm and husband, John P., of Glenville and Becky Slaughter and husband, Denzil, of Morgantown; six grandchildren, Landon Gumm and wife, Carissa, Michaela Moore and husband, Jessy, Larkin Slaughter and wife, Kate, Carrie Kipp and husband, David, Adrianna Wanstreet and husband, Tyler, and Deiland Slaughter and wife, Cara; five great grandchildren and two on the way; and two nephews.
Jo’s funeral services were held 1:30 P.M. Thursday, January 2, 2024, at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway with Pastor Dwight Goff and Pastor Tony Conrad officiating.
Her visitation was one and a half hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial was in the Frederick Gerwig Memorial Cemetery, Tom’s Run, Chapel, WV.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Frederick Gerwig Memorial Cemetery, c/o Mary Alice McMillion, 86 Tonkin Drive, Gassaway, WV.
Special thanks to Chapel Volunteer Department for hosting the dinner afterwards and to Old German Community Church for preparing the dinner.

Emogene F. Hines
Emogene F. Hines, 94, of Diana, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Webster County Memorial Hospital.
Born January 28, 1930 in Diana, she was the daughter of the late Harry G. and Reva J. (Knight) Perrine. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Robert Hines; sons, Robert (Darlene) Hines and Phillip Hines; daughter, Marketta Elliott; granddaughter, Donna Hines; sons-in-law, Harold Schrader and Philip Casteel; brother, Billy Joe Perrine; and sister, Rosalee A.Cutlip.
Emogene was a member of the Holly River Baptist Church, where she was part of several committees and the lady’s leadership group. She was also a member of the Red Hat Club. She worked at several places around the county, but especially enjoyed her time working at Webster County Senior Citizen’s Organization and in-home personal care. In her spare time, you could find her reading, sewing, and quilting.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Anna Schrader, Vera Casteel, Therial “Jonie” Hines (wife, Lisa), and Jimmy Hines; grandchildren: Tina, Michelle, Timothy, Amanda, Kevin, Steve, Kristina, James Robert, Chasta, Shawnette, Amy, Eric, Ashley, and Emily; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Virginia Hines; sister-in-law, Chloe Perrine; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Funeral Services to celebrate Emogene’s life were held on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Holly River Baptist Church, Diana, with Pastor Butch Rose officiating. Interment followed in Holly River Baptist Church Cemetery, Diana.
Friends joined the family for visitation one hour prior to service time, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, at the church.

Georgia Woods Davis
Georgia Woods Davis, age 92, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, at Summerville Regional Medical Center. She was born on May 6, 1932, to Edgar and Dora (Elliot) Woods. She was a lifelong resident of Webster County and a graduate from Cowen High, School WV. She married (Buck) Davis June 18, 1950.
She was a devoted member of the Presbyterian Church, Upper Glade. WV. She had a smile for everyone, and she would help anyone. She enjoyed reading and crocheting. Georgia made many beautiful afghans. She had a passion for adventures where she visited many states.
She was preceded in death by her husband (Buck); one brother,Robert Woods and two sisters, Leo Moffatt and Frankie Tanner;Debra‘s grandson, Shawn Eugene Jones; and a great-grandson Everett Ridge Jones. Georgia leaves behind two children; Carolyn Hammons (Larry) and Jerry Davis (Leona). Georgia adored her 8 grandchildren, Jason Hammons, Ryan Hammons, Michelle Hayhurst Shawn Jones, Jeramy Jones, Stephen Jones, Tina Partain, Teresa Price, Georgia has 14 great-grandchildren,Hunter, Morgan, Hailey, Leanie, Bailey, Hallie Stormie, Hannah, Jordan, Shawn, Jayden, Isaiah, Chase, Seth, Noah,Isaac, Aj, Aiden, Trey Alexander, Justin, Marissa, William, Johnathon, Georgia also had 2 great-great children Adaleigh,Karol Rayne. Her best friend Isya (German Shepard).
Services were held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, January 4, 2025,at Morris Funeral Home in Cowen with Pastor Terry Cunningham officiating. Burial was at West Virginia Memorial Gardens in Calvin. A gathering of family and friends was held from 11:00 am until the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home.

Udell Singleton
Udell Singleton, 84, entered into eternal peace on January 3, 2025, in Frewsburg, NY. He was born on March 10, 1940, in Gem, WV, the son of the late Thomas Singleton, Sr. and Beulah “Toots” Singleton. His wife of many years, Susan, preceded him in death on Christmas Day 2008.
Udell had four siblings, Roger, Sue (Mitch) Mitchell, Phyllis (Don) Conrad, and Tom Jr. who recently passed; one daughter, Debra and three grandchildren, Steven, Harley, and Davison. He will be sadly missed by his family.
Udell was a 1958 graduate of Burnsville High School and a member of the Burnsville Bruin football team. He had many good friends, both on and off the field (he liked to reminisce with Vincent Post about “the game” when the two caught up thru the years. We fans won’t go there but some of you will recall what happened.)
He left WV to find work after graduating and was successful in the food canning industry in Middleport, NY, area. After buying a property in Frewsburg, NY, he retired there but continued working at a large local marina. He spent a lot of free time rebuilding and adding to a small cabin, turning it into a lovely house and improving his beloved fish pond. Udell was also a jack of all trades and had a gift for repairing or fixing about anything large or small. He loved the great outdoors be it hunting, fishing, gardening, feeding the birds, etc. Nature was his thing. He was a person of great integrity and everyone knew you could count on his word or a handshake.

Services will be held at 12 pm, Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Stockert Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV. Visitation will be one hour before the service from 11:00-12:00 pm. Udell’s wishes to be buried at the family T&T farm cemetery will be honored privately following the service.
