Christmas came early for the employees of Central West Virginia Aging Services recently.
On Sunday, December 8 the staff gathered at the Days Inn Conference Center for their annual Holiday Appreciation Celebration.
Executive Director Evelyn Post welcomed the large crowd of employees and their families to the event which included food, door prizes, and service awards. She thanked them for their service not just to the organization but to the elderly and disabled individuals in their communities they serve on a daily basis.
Those in attendance enjoyed a wonderful meal after Leon Hashman led the invocation.
Homemakers were honored after the meal with various awards including years of service, attendance, and time sheet completion.
Highlighting the awards portion of this year’s celebration was the naming of Sherry Farmer as the Homemaker of the Year.
Certificates were presented for 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 years of service to the organization. Those receiving awards were: 5 plus — Linda Thomas, Patricia Williams, Pamela McKinney, Albert Boley III, Lisa Flowers, Nancy Skinner, and Anna Osborn, 10 plus — Carroll Walker, Gilberta Walker, Teresa Wagner, Audrey Hatfield, and Stacy Lawson; 15 plus — Rita Molidor and Deborah Powers; 25 plus —Ruby Louise Kittner; and 27 plus — Angela Bailes. Bailes and Kittner were also recognized for the longest tenure and runner-up.
Cora Leigh Markle was recognized as the Outstanding Newcomer. She has been with the organization for six months and had already shown great dedication. The Best Overall Attendance award Sharon Brooks and Amie Burkhammer and Best Overall Attendance Runner Up went to April Mitchell and Rebecca Phillips.
Time Sheet Completion awards went to Tonya Lake, Cortney Moss, Sheila Canfield, Cassy Cunningham, Diana Nicholas, Beverly Roop, Linda Tharp, Lisa Stackhouse, Regina Stewart, Crystal Cutlip, Shyanne Wade, Sharon Brooks, Teresa Hickman, Sarah Selman, Hailey Perrine, and Julie Cool.
No Christmas party is complete without gifts… several lucky individuals won door prizes throughout the day.
Executive Director Post also announced that a $1000 Christmas bonus would be awarded to those employed by the organization.
Central West Virginia Aging Services has grown to serve over 40 counties in the state, with seven offices in Sutton, Buckhannon, Charleston, Oak Hill, Parkersburg, Martins-burg, and Fairmont.
