Sissy K. Price has been named the keynote speaker at this years Annual Veteran’s Day Reception to be held on Saturday November 11th at the Braxton County Armory. Sis joined the United States Navy following graduation from Braxton County High School and served from 1990-1993. She is a Gulf War Veteran. From 1996-2003 Sis continued to serve in the WV National Guard as a Combat and Medic Nurse.
After serving in the US Navy, she went on to receive her BSN from Alderson Broadus in 2000 while holding the position of Nurse Medic for the WV Army National Guard. After graduating, she has held a number of positions throughout her nursing career including the Nurse Director and Administrator of the Braxton County Health Department. During this time, she was instrumental in setting up one of West Virginia’s largest Covid 19 mass vaccination clinics. She also worked as an LPN Adjunct Instructor with Pierpont College and was a Charge Nurse and RN Supervisor at Braxton County Memorial Hospital.
Sis’ current position is with WVU Medicine where she serves as the RN Infection Preventionist (IP) at Braxton County Memorial Hospital and Summersville Regional Medical Center. She has held this position since 2020. As the Infection Preventionist, she is responsible for indentifying, investigating, monitoring, and reporting healthcare-associated infections. The IP collaborates with teams and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention strategies.
Additional accomplishments include being awarded the Health Care Hero Award in November 2019, Soldier of the year in 2000 for the WV ARNG 1092 Combat Engineers, and becoming a Certified Advanced Recovery Coach.
In her spare time, Sis gives back the community in many ways. She is an active member of the Braxton County Rotary and attends Gassaway Baptist Church. She also enjoys spending time with her best friend, her husband and their three children.
