Braxton Citizens' News, Opinion

Early voting begins…

According to West Virginia state law ,10 days of early voting, including two Saturdays, between October 23 and November 2 will begin this Wednesday.

Early voting locations are open Monday through Friday during the same regular hours that the county courthouse is open, as well as from 9:00am until 5:00pm on Saturdays October 26 and November 2. In Braxton County the early voting location is the Sutton Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary Building, better known as the old Fisher Auto Parts store, across the street from the Courthouse.

I like early voting and utilize it most every election. It is convenient to go to the polls when it best suits my schedule.

I don’t always endorse candidates for election. That doesn’t mean that I don’t share my opinion of individuals when asked. I have realized over the years that I cannot always be on the winning side and most candidates are a lot less forgiving than I am. Since I have to work with whoever wins I have learned to keep my pen in my pocket.

With that said, I want to vary from that norm in at least one race this week. I can unequivocally endorse and support Brent Boggs for the County Commission. I have known and worked with him my entire adult life and no one is more qualified than he to be our next county commissioner!

Brent brings a wealth of experience, contacts and knowledge to the office that will benefit Braxton County immensely. Furthermore, Brent listens to those who elect him. Obviously, no one can please all the people all the time, but Brent really tries. He is not a politician; he is a leader and that’s what we need in public office.

I really don’t care what your political party preference is, Brent Boggs deserves your vote. A vote for Brent Boggs is a vote for Braxton County!

So, join me in electing Brent Boggs to the Braxton County Commission… we need him!

I don’t know if I will talk about other individual candidates before the election, I’m still milling that material over in my mind. However, I do know that we must vote. Don’t let others choose our leaders. Whether it’s early voting between Wednesday and November 2 or Election Day, go vote. It’s not only your constitutional right, it’s your responsibility.
