On Tuesday, October 8, a Town Hall meeting was held at the Days Inn Conference Center in Flatwoods for the purpose of meeting Democratic candidate for US Senate, Glenn Elliott, and several other candidates seeking state offices. Approximately 55 people were in attendance.
To her surprise 93-year-old Burnsville resident, Martha Belle Tayor was publicly acknowledged and presented a gift at the start of the meeting for her 52 years of service on the Democratic Executive Committee, as well as for her inspirational civic record of having voted in every election since she turned 21 in 1952.
As one event organizer said, “at a time when individuals think that their vote may not matter, be a Martha Belle Taylor and make a difference.”
