Glenville man arrested for possession of sexual images

On October 1, Trooper C. D. Harper of the Sutton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police and the WVPA’s Crimes Against Children’s Unit, obtained a search warrant in Braxton County Magistrate Court for a Glenville man.  The warrant was issued for Joshua Bly Miller of 60 Edgewood Drive, Glen-ville, in conjunction with an ongoing sexual abuse investigation being conducted by Gilmer County officers. The warrant was obtained in Braxton County due to the alleged crimes being committed in that jurisdiction.

Trooper Harper served the search warrant on Miller as he was leaving the Central Regional Jail where he was employed. The officer seized Millers cell phone as part of the investigation.

On October 3 Trooper Harper had the contents of Miller’s phone forensically examined. That search revealed two videos of child sexual abuse by an adult male.

Miller’s phone also contained applications commonly used by individuals to seek and trade CSAM files (Child Sexual Abuse Material). Miller was subsequently charged with the felony offence of possession/distribution of CSAM (50-600) images.

Miller, 38, was arraigned before Braxton County Magistrate Beth Smith on October 8 where his bond was set at $ 15,000 cash only. An additional $500,000 bond was set for crimes allegedly committed in Gilmer County. Miller was returned to the CRJ in lieu of that bond where he remains at press-time awaiting additional court appearances.
