Gassaway Depot to host Murder Thriller

By Shirley Shuman

In a first for Gassaway, Gassaway Days Celebration along with Murder and Merriment from Scott Depot, WV, are bringing an evening of dinner and hopefully frightening theatre to Gassaway Depot on Oct. 12. The Haunted Train Ride with professional actors will coincide with a dinner for those attending.

Leader of the Murder and Merriment Company George Snider III has had experience writing and directing murder mysteries since 1988. He also has had years of acting and directing to contribute to the success of the theatrical company Murder and Merriment. The company’s website declares, “Murder is the game, and guests have the opportunity to play detective by questioning the suspects and examining the evidence.”

The Haunted Train Ride centers around the wife of Hollywood horror-film director Victor Marshall who travels to San Francisco aboard a train. Throughout the past year, this woman has been terrorized by images of ghosts. She believes that someone is trying to scare her to death! The production is designed to provide some scares for the audience as well,

Along with the show, those who are providing the evening’s entertainment say that audience members “will take a stab” at solving the crime. All correct answers will be entered into a drawing for a prize at the end of the night.

Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Dinner and the show will start at 7:00 with dinner being served during the first 15 minutes of the show. Dinner will include baked steak, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, rolls, a drink, and dessert.  Tickets are $75 for individuals and $125 for couples.
