Teagan Huff crowned BCHS Homecoming Queen

Highlighting last Friday’s Braxton County High School Eagles’ football game was the 55th BCHS Homecoming Coronation during halftime. Senior Teagan Huff was crowned Queen.

Teagan is the daughter of Phil and Shannon Huff of Sutton. She is a member of HSTA, runs cross country, and plays basketball. After high school, Teagan will attend WVU and major in medicine.

Queen Teagan’s escort for the evening was senior Shawn Toler. He is the son of Jennifer and Chris Toler of Sutton. Shawn is a member of the football and golf teams. After graduation, he will pursue an electrical career.

Two additional seniors lead the Homecoming procession. They were Piper Estep of Frametown and Nivia McCourt of Flatwoods.

Piper is a member of student council, the senior class treasurer and plays softball. After graduation, she will attend WVU and major in secondary education or sports management. She is the daughter of Scott and Tonya Estep. Piper was escorted by Elijah Ramsey, son of Jason and Jessica Ramsey of Burnsville.

Nivea is captain of the Eagles’ cheer squad. After graduation, she will attend West Liberty and study dental hygiene. She is the daughter of Kathy McCourt of Flatwoods. Nivea’s escort for the evening was Remington Loyd. He is the son of Cecil and Amber Loyd of Duck.

Freshman representatives in the Homecoming Court were Nevaeh Flint and Cadence Ramsey. Nevaeh is the daughter of Julia Dean of Burnsville and Travis Flint of Miami, Florida. Her escort was Logan Payne, the son of Billy and Amanda Payne of Sutton.

Cadence is the daughter of Clarence and Casey Ramsey of Burnsville. She was escorted by Rylan Cowger, son of Anna Green and Mikey Cowger of Flatwoods.

Sophomore attendants were Azzy Godfrey, and Leah Payne. Azzy is the daughter of Margaret Godfrey of Copen. Her escorted was Jesse Morrison, son of Gary Morrison of Sutton and Casey Drake of Burnsville.

Leah is the daughter of Eric and Lisa Payne of Exchange. She was escorted Cade Squires, son of Cassie Squires of Gassaway and Jason Squires of Port Charlotte, Florida.

Gracie Dyer and Aubree McDonald represented the junior class. Gracie is the daughter of Casey Dyer of Little Birch. Her escort was Paxton Smith. He is the son of Okey and Lorrie Smith of Gassaway.

Aubree is the daughter of Billy and Angie McDonald of Heaters. She was escorted by Brodi Smarr, the son of Brian and Jennifer Smarr of Servia.

The flower girl was Peyton Gregory. She is the daughter of Eric and Macy Gregory of Sutton. The crown bearer was Conway Barrett. He is the son of Dylan and Mackenzie Barrett of Frametown.

Homecoming King, Shawn Toler was crowned by BCHS Principal Lori Stover.

The 2023 Homecoming Queen, Nicole Bramble crowned this year’s Queen. Teagan was also presented flowers by Assistant Principal John McElwain and had the traditional green queen’s cloak draped about her shoulders by Assistant Principal Mackenzie Helmick.
