Robert Vaughn Flynt Jr.
Robert Vaughn Flynt Jr., 60, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at Braxton County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Cheverly, MD, on May 9th, 1964, Robert was the only son of the late Robert Vaughn Flynt Sr. and Carol Elsie Emelio Flynt. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two sisters: Karen Swann and Katherine Flynt.
Forever cherishing their memories of Robert are his three children: Jordan Vaughn Flynt and companion, Angelique Laise, of Fairfax, VA, Zachary Vinsen Flynt and companion, Tiana Madon, of Ocean Side, CA, and Grace Flynt and companion, Nathan Marks, of Cedarville; six grandchildren: Logan Flynt, Peyton Flynt, Nolan Flynt, Ethan Marks, Ezequiel Marks, and Enye Marks; four sisters: Abbey Flynt of Aylett, VA, Diane Destefano of Cresson, PA, and Linda Melvin and Betty Melvin both of Dumfries, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
Robert, a resident of Sutton, was a beloved member of his community, known for his dedication to the people around him and his impactful work in the field of housing. He proudly served as a Corpsman in the United States Naval Reserve while spending over two decades as a Case Worker and Project Manager for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Most recently Robert was the owner and operator of Suds and Shine and Barb-b-q.
A 1982 graduate of Woodbridge High School, Robert’s commitment to service was a constant throughout his life. Robert’s passion for his community was evident in his involvement with the Moose Lodge #825, where he, “BINGO Bob”, assisted with and ran BINGO. His enthusiasm for football was infectious, especially when cheering on his favorite team, the Washington Commanders. Robert had a unique hobby of building structures with tarps, showcasing his creativity and love for “tarpentry”. His dedication to helping others was further demonstrated by his work with Celebrate Recovery, a program he helped initiate in Braxton County. Robert was a member of the Gassaway Presbyterian Church, where his faith played a significant role in his life.
As we mourn the loss of Robert, let us remember him as he was described in Corinthians 15:58, “Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.” In the spirit of this verse, Robert gave himself fully to the work of the Lord and his community.
Robert’s request for Cremation has been honored at Pat Boyle Funeral Home’s On-Site Crematory. A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

Roland Milton Wilson
Roland Milton Wilson, 87, of St. Albans, WV, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at CAMC Hospice, Charleston.
He was born January 13, 1937 in Sutton, WV the son of the late Cyril Milton & Dorothy Irene Tinney Wilson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Vera Mollohan Wilson; brother-in-law and best friend, Desper Lemon; brother-in-laws, Dave Williams and Ray Lunceford.
Roland retired from the Purity Bread Company and was a milkman. He was former co owner of Sutton Esso Gas Station and attended Chapel Hill Methodist Church in Buckhannon.
He is survived by his son, Roland Keith Wilson (Anita) of Berea, KY; daughter, Melanie Freeman (William) of St. Albans, WV; sister, Linda Williams of Tesla, WV; sister-in-laws, Florence Lunceford of Flatwoods, WV, Sue Johnson of Calabash, NC, Mary Lou Lemon of St. Albans, WV; Grandchildren Lindsey Cooper (Luke), and Ariel Boyd (Stephen); Great – Grandchildren Cayden and Silas Cooper, and Ava and Laura Boyd also several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of his Life was held noon, Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Minister Stephen Boyd officiating. Friends called 11:00 a.m. till service time at the funeral home.

Justin Allen Wortham
Justin Allen Wortham, a beloved father, son, brother, partner, and friend, passed away on August 05, 2024, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 39, from traumatic brain injuries sustained in a car accident.
Born on May 04, 1985, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Debra and Glenn Carey, and the late Sherwin Wortham. Justin’s vibrant spirit and infectious laughter filled the lives of those around him from the very beginning.
Growing up in West Virginia, Justin attended Buckhannon-Upshur High School, where he graduated in 2003. Justin furthered his education at Glenville State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. He became a proud member of the TKE Fraternity and started his career as an Announcer and Commentator for various sports events. It was here that Justin’s love for camaraderie and community blossomed.
Justin worked as a Sales Assistant Manager with Rent-A-Center most recently, and as an Inventory Control Coordinator at Chick-fil-A.
He enjoyed being a Commentator and Announcer known as “The Most Athletic Voice in All of the South East” at Revolt Pro Wrestling and Hybrid Pro, the voice at Diamond Championship Wrestling, Combat Sport Pro, and Alabama Wrestling Federation.
Justin’s life was one marked by adventure and joy. He was a talker and a jokester, always ready with a quip to lighten the mood. His love of cooking was matched only by his love of wrestling.
A devout member of Watermark Church, Justin’s faith was as strong as his physique. He often spent time working out at the gym. Justin shared a special bond with his sons, Kayson and William, as they enjoyed watching wrestling and gaming together. He was Kinley’s biggest fan, as he cheered her on during her basketball games, forging memories with all of his children that will be treasured forever Justin’s family was the cornerstone of his life.
He is survived by his loving parents, Debra L and Glenn A Carey, the love of his life for the past 13 years, Kassie Boone, his adoring children, Kayson Allen Wortham and Kinley Melton; his caring sisters, Jade (Jacob) Hibbs, Angela Wortham Broussard, and Lora (Robert) Perrine; his aunts, Patricia Empoules, Terry Empoules, Felice Wortham, and Joyce Mancera; his uncles, Frank Wortham Jr and Daniel (Liqing) Carey; his nieces, Zaylee Hibbs, Erynn Broussard, and Ivory Bross; nephews, Waylon Hibbs and Alex Broussard; as well as many cousins and special friends who will miss him dearly.
Justin was welcomed into heaven by his son, William Melton who preceded him in death March 01, 2024. August 5th was William’s 18th birthday, so it was surely a joyous reunion.
He was also preceded in death by his father, Sherwin A Wortham, his maternal grandmother, Reva Empoules Davis, his paternal grandmother, Genevieve Wortham, his paternal grandfather, Frank Wortham Sr, his paternal grandparents, John and Marie Carey; his aunts, Cindy Empoules Branham and Melody Carey, and uncles James Empoules and Gary Branham.
Those that knew Justin would describe him as adventurous, funny, and spirited. His presence was a source of laughter and light, and his absence will be deeply felt.
As Mark Twain once said, “The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time”. Justin lived fully, embracing each moment with enthusiasm and courage.
In a final act of generosity, Justin chose to give the gift of life through organ and tissue donation. His healthy heart, a testament to his dedication to fitness, has already begun to beat in the chest of its first recipient, and many more lives will be touched by his decision.
A memorial gathering will be held 3 PM Saturday, September 14, 2024, at South Buckhannon Mission Church at 152 Randolph St, Buckhannon, WV.
A celebration of Justin’s life will be start at 3:30 PM at the church with Pastor Ed Lowther officiating.
Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories of Justin, to honor a life that, although cut short, was lived to the fullest
Justin Allen Wortham’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and selflessness. His story does not end with his passing but lives on in the hearts of those he touched, and the lives he continues to impact.
Justin will be remembered for the remarkable way he lived.

Helen Muzex Sirk Armentrout, 90 of Huntsburg, Ohio passed away on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Blossom Hill Care Center after an extended illness.
She was born June 16, 1934 in Clarksburg to the late Bernard and Ivy Cart Sirk and worked in housekeeping in a nursing facility until she retired.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband Junior A. Armentrout.
Friends joined the family for Graveside Services on Friday, August 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Miller Cemetery, Webster Springs with Pastor Cofer “Bud” Cochran officiating.

Caroline Sue Clayton
Caroline Sue Clayton, 77 of Webster Springs passed away Friday, August 23, 2024, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Caroline was born July 24, 1947, in Clarksburg and was the daughter of the late Henry and Fonda Cogar Mick. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings, Barbara Hines and Wendell and Patty Mick.
Caroline attended the West Virginia State Police Academy. She was a former city police officer for the Town of Addison Webster Springs. She was also elected Sheriff of Webster County, serving 1984-1988 and then again in 1997-2004. Caroline enjoyed cooking, camping at the family camp in Desert Fork, water skiing, boating, hunting, fishing ,taking care of her pets; but most of all, spending time with her loving family. Caroline had a giving heart, if you were in need, she would do what she could to help. In her younger years, she enjoyed singing country music with her family and was even known as the “Singing Sheriff.”
Surviving are her loving husband, Stanley; son, James Clayton and his wife Sharon, daughter, Becky Cutlip and her husband Jim; grandchildren, Daniel (Cris) Cutlip, Christopher Clayton and his wife Bethany and Alison Jordan and her husband Zarron; great granddaughter, Faith Clayton and also a brother, David Mick.
Friends may join the family for visitation 6-9 PM , Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Funeral service will be 11 AM Wednesday at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Varney officiating. Burial will follow at Cogar Cemetery , Desert Fork.

William Gregory “Greg” Martie, age 81, of Buckhannon, formerly of Sutton and Frametown, died Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Holbrook Healthcare Center in Buckhannon and is survived by his loving family.
He was a graduate of Gassaway High School and a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.
The body will be cremated and inurnment will be made at Culpeper National Cemetery.

Anna Mae Pritt Whitney
Anna Mae Pritt Whitney, 85, of Charleston, WV, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at CAMC General. She was born on July 5, 1939, to the late Charles B. and Oma L. Summers Pritt.
Anna Mae enjoyed gardening, flowers, and reading. She loved her family and will be dearly missed by many.
In addition to her parents, Anna is preceded in death by her sister Brenda Fay Thorton.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 65 years, James Ira Whitney, her children James Whitney (Melody), Tim Whitney (Erica), Mike Whitney (Sherri), and Bill Whitney (Kista), 14 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life was held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 2, 2024, at Long & Fisher Funeral Home. Burial followed in Pritt family cemetery, Sissonville.
Visitation was held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral before the service.

Jerry A. Pierson
Jerry A. Pieson, Age 89, of Woodbury, MN, formerly of Sutton, WV, and Roswell, GA, passed away peacefully on May 30th, 2024.
Survived by beloved wife of 66 years, Joan, daughter, Lynn Bowen (Kevin), son, Rich (Cheryl), five grandchildren and five great grandchildren, sister, Jane Kairies (nephew, Daniel).
Jerry was loved by family and friends alike and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A private family service was held in July.

Donald E. Carter
Donald E. Carter, 72, of Rosedale passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Rosedale on February 3, 1952, to the late Orville Carter and Edith King Carter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 10 siblings.
In his life he worked as a timberman and in a truss plant. Donald always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his friends. He will be missed.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Vicky E. Lowe Carter; sons, Justin Carter (Jessica) and Josh Carter (Lynn Cupp); grandchildren, Jalynn and Keegan; brothers, Tim Carter and Jerry Carter; sister, Janet Carter; several nieces and nephews; and good friends, Dustin Crislip and Katie Hupp.
A private interment was held in the Rosedale Community Cemetery.
