Braxton Native Explores State’s Heritage Through GWV Fellowship

Among the standout Fellows of GWV Fellowship Class of 2024 is Dustin Crutchfield, a dedicated young professional from Burnsville, now residing in Gilmer County.
Dustin Crutchfield, Director of Alumni Relations at Glenville State University (GSU), is making significant strides in the GWV Fellowship program, displaying a deep connection to is Appalachian roots and a passion for community development.
Reflecting on his upbringing, Dustin shares, “Growing up surround by family in Braxton County shaped my values profoundly. My Grandparents instilled in me a love for West Virginia traditions like gardening, hunting and preserving food. Their dedication to hard work and community involvement has inspired me to give back through volunteerism.”
During his time in the GWV Fellowship, Dustin has been impressed by his peers’ dedication and talent. “The fellowship has united a diverse group of young West Virginians committed to our state’s prosperity.” He explains. “We’re not just here; we’re determined to thrive and contribute to making West Virginia a place where everyone can build a fulfilling life.”
As Dustin navigates the fellowship, he is honing essential leadership skills crucial for community enhancement. “I’ve discovered that leadership takes many forms,” Dustin reflects. “Each of us brings unique strengths to the table, and the fellowship is equipping us with the tools to leverage these strengths effectively.”
