The Central West Virginia Mule and Donkey Show will host its 30th Annual event September 7th and 8th. This event is sponsored and held at Holly Gray Park on Airport Road near Sutton.
Entry fees: $5.00 per class (Except class 38, 39, & 45.) Admission: $5.00 (6 years of age and under are free.)
Camping Sites: Electric and water $20.00, no hookup $10.00. Barn stalls may be reserved for $10.00 per day. All charged by park authority. Food concessions and vendors on the ground (Vendors Fee.) No alcoholic beverages on grounds per park regulations.
Awards to first five (5) places in classes. Jack must have stud chains and jack handlers must be 18 years of age or older, with exception juveniles are permitted to hand weaning classes. No whipping in front of saddle. Negative Coggins test and out of state health certificate required.
Saturday, September 7th Show start at 2:00 p.m. There will be a host of categories that participates will compete in. They include: Memorial Class (Walk, Ride, Wagon Ride, in memory of a loved one or equine), Wagon and Cart Trail Ride Class, Lead Trail Class Over Obstacle M/D No cross entering in Classes 2-3 (2 refusals then must pass to next obstacle.), Trail Class Over Obstacle M/D Ridden (As in Class #3.), Trail Class – Mule, Trail Ride Class – Donkey; Egg & Spoon Class, Stick Horse (Ages 3-8 Years Old), Poles Youth Class (Must show in 9 & 10 to enter class 38), Poles Open Class (Must show in 9 & 10 to enter class 38), Flag Race M/D Timed, Stock Race M/D Timed Ride, Youth Barrel Race M/D Timed Ride (Rider 18 Years & Under) Must enter classes 13 & 14 to enter class, Open Barell Race M/D Timed Ride (Must enter class 14 to enter class 39, Balloon Pop, Dolly Parton Race, Catalog Race – Open, Bell Race Class – Open, Straight Barrels – Youth, Straight Barrels – Open, Dizzy Bat Race (18 Years or Older.), Panty Hose Race – Open- 2 Riders to a team.
Sunday, September 8th show starts at 10:00 a.m. with: Halter – Miniature Jack Under 36”, Halter Standard Jack and Mammoth Jack, Halter Miniature, Standard – Jennett & Geldings, Halter Mammoth Jennett & Geldings, Halter M/D Foals 21 & 22 & 23, Halter Mule – Under 54”, Color Class M/D Judged on Color Only. (No cross over in Classes 29 & 30, Solid Color Class M/D Judged on Solid Color Only, Halter Mule Draft M/F Under 54”, Halter Mule Draft M/F over 54”, Stick Horse (3-8 Years of Age.), Coon Jump Class M/D 54” and under – (1 minute time limit, must start from standing still position.), Coon Jump Class M.D Over 54” (As in Class 32), Best Matched Pair M/D (May be shown in harness. No points for harness. Intermission – Mule and Donkey Sale Walk $1.00, Costume Class M/D (Judged & Crowd Favorite.), Open Poles Payback Class ($10.00 entry fee 1st – 40%, 2nd – 30%, 3rd – 10%), Open Barrel Race ($10.00 entry fee. Payback as above), English Pleasure M/D Walk – Pleasure Gait, Ladies Pleasure M/D, Lead Line Riders (8 & under or Disabled) Lead by Adult – No Jacks, Pleasure Driving M/D 48” & Under Single or Double, Western Pleasure M/D, Wild Mule Race 100% payback – $10.00 entry fee. ($10.00 entry fee 1st – 40%, 2nd – 30%, 3rd – 10%). Class may be split depending on number of entries. Then final heat will be run for money. (Riders must be 18 years of age and older.), Ladies Driving M/D Double, Double Driving M/D 2-3 or 4 Open, Old Timers Driving M/D (Drivers 39 and older) 49. Single Driving – Mule, Single Driving – Donkey, Ladies Driving M/D, Old Timers Pleasure M/D (Drivers 39 and older), Youth Pleasure (Riders must be 18 and under.), Gaited Pleasure M/D (Rack, Pace, Etc.), Log Skid or Pull Timed Event – Obstacle Course, Dizzy Bat Race Juvenile (18 and under), Go As You Please – No Canter M/D.
Contestants for Sunday classes in a halter may have a helper behind animals.
This event will be held rain or shine. All proceeds for the benefit of Holly Gray Park.
