As I write this, we listen for the phone to ring. Hopefully the good news will be that MyKenna has made her appearance. As noted in this space last week, MyKaela and Shane are expecting their second child, any minute now.
At her appointment last week, her doctors said that while she probably would’nt go that long that if the baby wasn’t born by today, Monday, they would induce labor. Like her mother, MyKenna is already proving to be a bit stubborn as her parents were off bright and early this morning to Buckhannon.
That means the entire family is on the edge of their seats awaiting the arrival of the newest member of the Given clan. Obviously, it couldn’t be soon enough for the expectant mother. Dad is certainly excited as well, but he has his hands full will momma and big brother Memphis.
I know this must sound like a broken record, but hopefully we will have more to report in next week’s column.
We had a very pleasant weeklong visit with Mary Hunt, son Tom, his wife Erin and daughter Audrey. It’s been nearly a year since Mary moved to Florida. She was such an important part of so many lives, it has been difficult to adjust. Having her back, even for the week, was a pleasant return to what seems like normal.
They spent the weekend at the lake while she was in and a steady stream of old friends stopped by to say hello. Like them, I enjoyed visiting with Mary and catching up on what she was doing in Florida.
As usual, I also enjoyed visiting with Tom and hearing about his adventures. He inherited his Dad’s talent for storytelling and there is never a dull moment when Tom tells about his latest escapade.
He also brought me a copy of his latest AI (Artificial Intelligence) program and told me how much better it is than they one he introduced me to a few years ago. Unfortunately, I have been too busy to play with it, but that is on my “to do” list.
The Hunt’s visit was very pleasant, and we are hopeful that they will be able to work out the detials for a return trip later in the fall.
