Carla Ann Allen Byrne
Carla Ann Allen Byrne, 68, of Edinburg, VA, passed away Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at her home. No services are planned.
Mrs. Byrne was born on May 11, 1956, in Braxton County, West Virginia, daughter of the late Ruben Baily Allen and Marjorie Louise Conrad Allen. She worked at George’s Food for 45 years and was a member of First Church of Columbia Furnace.
Carla is survived by her son, Tyler Lee Byrne of Edinburg; four sisters, Nelly Conrad of Edinburg, Donna Sue of Flatwoods, Bonnie Singleton of Burnsville, and Kay Allen of Heaters; three brothers, Ruben Allen of Flatwoods, Ronnie Allen of Heaters, and Daniel Allen of Napier; and two grandchildren, Carter and Sonny.
She was preceded in death by one sister and six brothers.
Carla lived life on her own terms. She worked hard and persevered through every obstacle. She loved with her whole heart, especially her son and grandsons. Her hardships during her time on Earth are over, but her peaceful time in heaven is well deserved.

Marilyn Ruth Queen
Marilyn Ruth Queen, 69 of Cowen passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024 at CAMC- General Division, Charleston. Marilyn was born January 2, 1955 in Sutton and was the daughter of the late Allen Ray and Evelyn Mace Thayer.
Marilyn enjoyed camping, 4-wheelers, watching reality shows on TV and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was proceeded in death by her brother, Leslie Patrick (Bonnie) Thayer and brother-in-law Arlie Williams
Left to cherish Marilyn’s memory are her son, Tracil Lee Hosey Jr.; daughter Connie J. Hosey; granddaughters, Kyria Hosey, Sierra Cowell; adopted grandsons, Joshua Allen Tallarito, Jeffery Lee Tallarito; great-granddaughter, Emersyn McCartney; brother, Allen Ray (Regan) Thayer Jr; sisters, Linda Williams and Lynn Ware; and several nieces and nephews to mourn her passing.
Services to celebrate Marilyn’s life will be held at 2 pm Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Mark Coffman officiating. Friends may join the family for visitation two hours prior to the services.

Rosemary Jackson Harris Barker
Rosemary Jackson Harris Barker, 77, of Sutton passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
She was born on October 8, 1946, at home in Frametown, WV to the late Cecil B. Jackson, Sr. and Martha Tyo Jackson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Cecil Jackson, Jr.
Rosemary was a Christian by faith. She had a great personality and she loved her family and friends. She enjoyed being a grandmother to her two granddaughters. In her spare time, she liked to read the bible, sew and listen to Elvis songs. When she was able, she went to the Senior Center and Braxton County Fair. She also enjoyed taking care of her dog. Rosemary was a homemaker, but she worked for Precision Services for an extended period.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, David Harris of Sutton; grandchildren, Larissa Skye Harris and Angel Rush; and favorite dog, Addie.
In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated and private family services will be held at a later date.

Patty Jean Duffield
Patty Jean Duffield, 79 years of age of Charleston, formerly of Summersville, died Thursday July 18,2024 in the Charleston Health Care Center. She was the daughter of the late Elmer and Gracie Hall Dancy and was born in Clay County on June 27,1945. Patty was a homemaker and enjoyed woodworking and genealogy. She was a member of the Reynolds Street Baptist Church in Summersville.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles Duffield and one son Fred Duffield.
Surviving Daughters Donna Bumgarner (Greg) Charleston, Judith Kincaid (Fred) Mt. Lookout.
Brothers Howard Dancy Elyria, Ohio, Hurl Dancy Oak Hill, Rick Dancy Ridgeway, Virginia
Grandchildren Ryan and Courtney, Great Grandchildren, Chase, Cali and baby Charlie.
Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday July 22nd in the Waters Funeral Chapel at Summersville with Pastor Arnold Nicholas officiating. Burial followed in the Sirk Cemetery at Duck. Friends called at the funeral chapel one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Jennifer Lou Coffman
Jennifer Lou Coffman, 62 years of age of Summersville, passed away Sunday July 14,2024 in the United Healthcare Center at Bridgeport. She was the daughter of the late Wendell Merl and Jeanette Oxier Lynch and was born at Webster Springs September 25, 1961. Jennifer was a homemaker, a former police officer and member of the Nicholas County Fair Board. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Christian Fellowship on Nile Road in Summersville.
She was also preceded in death by one sister Cathy Sutten.
Surviving: Husband James Coffman Son Adam Joseph Lynch of Summersville, Sister Judee Chatham (Jerry) Mount Clare, two Nephews and one Niece.
Graveside services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday July 19th in the WV Memorial Gardens at Calvin with Pastor Brian McKinney officiating.
The Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville is in charge of the arrangements.

June Irene Justice
June Irene Justice, 90, of Left Hand, WV passed away July 12, 2024 in Charleston, WV.
She was born April 28, 1934 in Walton, WV and was the daughter of the late Ancil and Sarah Kerns Daugherty.
June was a homemaker and a professional Momaw to all. She enjoyed cooking, quilting and babysitting.
Left behind to cherish her memory, are her two children, Pamela Anthony of Concord, NC and Herbert Justice (Barbara) of Dunbar, WV; four grandchildren, Vanessa Austin (Michael) of Midland, NC, Brian Allen (Natalie) of Cross Lanes, WV, Shawn Allen of St. Albans, WV and Corey Morgan of Glasgow, WV; and seven great-grandchildren, Taylor, Gannen, Penelope, Maddy, Arianna, Oscar and Colton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Justice; son-in-law, Patrick Anthony; and seven siblings, Mildred Sampson, Beatrice Stanley, Ona Criner, Wayne, Sydney, Jack and Harry Daugherty.
Visitation was held Sunday, July 14, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 P.M. at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home. The funeral service was 1:00 P.M. ~ Monday, July 15, 2024 at Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer with Reverend David Krebs officiating. Burial followed at Clover Ridge Cemetery in Roane County, WV.

Anna Lea Foster King
Anna Lea Foster King, 88, of Duck, WV formally of Ivydale WV, went home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2024, at 1:12 am.
Anna Lea was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Thomas Foster and second husband Kent King.
Anna is survived by her five children: Debbie (Glen) Mayes of Duck, WV, Donna Carte of Ivydale, WV, Norma (Brent) Fields of Ivydale, WV, Paul Thomas (Deloris) Foster Jr of Nebo WV, Bobby Wayne Foster of Dixie, WV.
Anna was a grandmother to 7 grandchildren: Bradley Mayes, Emilee Mayes Putman, Missy Carte Metheney, Mandy Carte Bledsoe, Larry Dale Cobb, Jessie Gill, Brianna Foster, Jacinda Wilson, and Brandon Andrew.
Anna is great grandmother to 13 great-great grandchildren: Kylee Mayes, Rylee Hoover, Mariah and Emmy Putman, Samantha and Dakota Vaughan, Kimberly Akers, Nicholas Martin, Makayla, Little Larry and Eden Cobb, Kayden and Charleigh Wilson.
Anna is great-great grandmother of one: Ryker Cruikshanks.
Services were held on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Wilson Smith Funeral Home, Clay, WV. Pastor Wayne Litton officiated. Visitors visited one hour prior to the services. The burial was at the Boggs Cemetery at Big Otter.

John Cameron “Cam” Westfall
John Cameron “Cam” Westfall, 61, of Cowen passed away Thursday, July 18, 2024, at his residence with his family by his side, after an extended illness. He was born January 29, 1963, in Sutton, a son of the late Herman and Deloris Davis Westfall.
Cam was a former logger and carpenter. He was a 32-year member of the Cowen Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Christian by Faith and enjoyed working on cars, driving fast, and spinning his tires, playing loud music, dancing, mowing grass and spending time with his grandchildren, they were his world and his three children were his most prize possession.
Surviving are his children, Dev (Mitchell) Wilson of Erbacon, Sha (David) Armentrout of Cowen, Nick (Chrissy) Westfall of Cowen; siblings, Janet Squires of Birch River, Randal Westfall of Upper Glade, Ernest(Michelle) Westfall of Cowen, and Phyllis Westfall of Upper Glade; grandchildren, Ethan (Haley) Wilson, Kalista, Savannah, Olivia, Avery, and Elena Wilson, Asha Snyder, Warran Armentrout, Spencer Westfall and Brooklynne Westfall, Brieanna and Carter Wayne, and Seth Mullins; many nieces and nephews, as well as, the many friends he had made over the years.
In addition to his parents, brother Donald Westfall, sister-in-law Ramona Westfall and brother-in-law, Ernest Squires preceded him in death.
Services were held at 4:00 pm on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Doug Martin officiating. A gathering of family and friends was held from 2:00 pm until the time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Burial with full fireman honors will follow at Sunset Memorial Park in Erbacon

Loretta Jean Hoover
Loretta Jean Hoover, 74, of Weston entered into Heaven’s Gate on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at WVU United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. She was born in Buckhannon, WV on November 15, 1949, daughter of the late, Harry Junior Brown and Mildred Jean (Harper) Brown. Loretta was united in marriage on September 12, 1970, to her loving husband of 53 years, William “Bill” Harvey Hoover, Jr., who survives.
Cherishing the loving and caring nature of Loretta are her husband, Bill, daughter’s, Jeannie Lopez-Flores and husband, Nicholas of Harrisburg, VA and Anita Joann Channing of Weston, WV, 7 grandchildren, Nate Binegar, Hunter Binegar and wife, Alyssa, Ines Lopez-Flores, Tia Channing, Logan Lopez-Flores, Will Lopez-Flores, and Gabby Tenney, 5 great grandchildren, Ellie Binegar, Ryker Wilson, Hazel Binegar, Prestyn Binegar, and Micah Stottlemire, 2 brothers, Harold Sheppard and wife, Patty of Elkins, WV and Jerry Brown of Sutton, WV, and several nieces and nephews.
Loretta was reunited at Heaven’s Gate with open arms by her parents, Harry and Mildred, and her daughter, Dinah Marie Hoover, who preceded her in death.
Loretta was a graduate of Buckhannon-Upshur High School class of 1968. She was the owner and operator of the Craft Barn in Buckhannon, WV for several years. Loretta was a faithful member of the Message of Light Tabernacle in Weston. She had been a dedicated Girl Scout Leader and 4-H Leader for many years in Weston. She led the 4-H group called the Horner Busy Bees. Loretta enjoyed painting crafts and ceramics, scrapbooking, and crocheting blankets for those she loved. Most of all, Loretta’s family was her pride and joy, and she cherished time spent with them.
Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Avenue of Weston, on Monday, July 22, 2024 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bob Hoover officiating.
