Commission Holds Special Meeting

The Braxton County Commission held a special meeting on Friday July 12. The gathering was called to order by President Lisa Godwin at 9:00 a.m.
The only item on the agenda was the approval of external budge revisions to the coal severance fund for the fiscal year. The President explained that the reason for the special meeting was that the revisions must be submitted to the West Virginia’s Auditor’s office by April 15th deadline.
Commissioner Larry Clifton made a motion to approve the revisions. Being that no additional business could be considered during the special meeting, the meeting adjourned at 9:02 a.m.
Following adjournment of the special meeting, the Commission convened a work session and discussed the following items: review of the 2024-2025 budget; discussion of the Congressionally Directed Spending (Earmarks) and other grants as well as an update on the new county ladder truck.
During the discussion of the grants, it was noted that the Us Department of Justice COPS Law Enforcement Technology and Equipment Grant for the Sheriff’s Department had been submitted, with revisions to meet grant requirements, on time.
