The West Virginia Department of Education has announced five finalists for the 2025 WV School Personnel of the Year. Braxton County Middle School secretary Kelly Pritt is one of the five. Pritt noted that she feels “very honored and humbled to be recognized as a state finalist.” She added, “There are so many service personnel who deserve to be acknowledged for their willingness to go above and beyond their regular duties to help the students and other staff members. They are essential parts that allow our schools to run smoothly.”
“I sincerely hope that I can represent our county to the best of my ability. I have been invited to ‘A Celebration of Excellence in Education’ event to honor the 2025 teacher and service personnel of the Year on September 10 at the Cultural Center. The winner will be announced at that ceremony,” she said. Pritt also noted that Braxton Superintendent Dr. Donna Burge-Tetrick and BCMS Principal Amy Perkins will be invited to attend.
Pritt, who has worked as secretary at the local middle school for the past five years, graduated from West Virginia State University with a degree in Business Management. She enjoys her work at the middle school and appreciates her relationship not only with the staff but also with the students. She explained that her job includes the basic duties of a school secretary and adds that her interaction with the students is definitely part of those duties.
Michele L. Blatt, WV State School Superintendent of Schools, stressed the importance of school personnel in a statement published on the WVDE website. “Service personnel form the backbone of schools statewide, ensuring students are learning and thriving in safe learning environments. They leave an invaluable imprint on those around them through creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for students, faculty, and staff,” she said.
