Last Wednesday, the Mountaineer Food Bank team gathered in the beautiful Fayette County community for an unforgettable staff appreciation day. It was a day full of opportunities to unwind, step away from everyday food banking duties, and connect with one another as ordinary people.
MFB’s Director of Organizational Culture, Amy Fauber planned an eventful day filled with experiences and adventures. The staff had the chance to choose between several exciting activities: The infamous New River Gorge Bridge walk; An exhilarating Escape Room challenge at the Escape-A-Torium in downtown Fayetteville and a lovely hike on the picturesque trails surrounding the beautiful New River.
In true training spirit, Amy also arranged for a thought-provoking Civic Voice Workshop with Samantha Nygaard and Ed Stierli of the National Parks Conservation Association. They enlightened attendees on the power of storytelling and how the stories MDB shares impact their work and shape outcomes.
During downtime, staff members enjoyed fun games like cornhole and badminton and cherished the moments spent socializing with one another. Lunch was a treat with some delicious pies and pints “that everyone loved!”
To cap off the amazing day, organizers celebrated staff members who have completed their Ideal Food Banker training and recognized quarterly WHAM recipients.
