Betty J. (Byrd) “B.J.” Swanson
Betty J. (Byrd) “B.J.” Swanson of Marietta, OH was called to Heaven in Duluth, MN on March 25, 2024, after suffering a battle with cancer.
She was born in Burnthouse, WV on January 13,1950 to Burlin Boyd Byrd and Hazel Mae (Workman) Byrd.
She was preceded by her siblings: Helen Smith, Nancy Craig, William “Bud” Byrd, Rose Frymier, Franklin “Frank” Byrd, Shirley Barnett and Burlin Byrd Jr., of WV.
Betty met her love Chuck Swanson in Burnsville, WV.
They were married on February 14, 1987.
They soon moved to Chuck’s hometown of Duluth, MN where they made their home in Hermantown, MN until 1994 when they decided to build their home again in Waxahachie, TX. They resided there until moving to Marietta, OH in 2006.
Betty and Chucks greatest joys were spending time with family. Every vacation they ever had or move they made in life was to enjoy every minute they could spend with their children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Chuck was called unto our Lord on July 27, 2011.
His final wish was to cross the gate to Heaven hand in hand with his dearest love “Betsa” by his side.

James Robert “Bob” Riffle
James Robert “Bob” Riffle, 89, of Sutton, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV.
He was born October 16, 1934 in Little Birch, WV to the late Samuel and Daisy Bell Claypool Riffle. Also preceding him in death were two sisters Helen Elswick and Daisy Shafer, and a brother Samuel Riffle, Jr.
Bob was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service, Braxton County School Bus Driver for 30 years, a Police Officer for the Town of Sutton and several years ago worked as an ambulance driver for Greene-Robertson Funeral Home. He was also a member of the Bug Ridge Community Church.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Beulah Mae Rhodes Riffle, brothers, Kenneth Riffle of Sutton, WV, Sister Shirley Squires of Sutton, WV and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 1pm, Monday, May 6, 2024 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Pastor Earl Cayton and Pastor Richard Propst officiating. Burial followed at Bill Rose Cemetery, Bays, WV. Friends called from 11:30 to 1pm at the funeral home.

Linda Mae Richardson
Linda Mae Richardson, 73, of Sutton passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Braxton County Healthcare Center.
Linda was born September 30, 1950 in Richwood, WV, the daughter of the late James Arthur and Ida Mae Houghton Harris. In addition to her late parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Hurl Richardson, Jr.
Linda enjoyed being a homemaker.
She is survived by her step sons, Randy Richardson of Reedsville, WV and Tim Richardson of Frametown, WV and a sister, Donna J. Sykes of NC. Grandchildren, Zach Richardson, Ashlee Richardson, Timothy Richardson, Casey Hamner, Lilly Richardson, Mike Richardson, Randall Richardson. Great grandchildren, Logan Richardson and Zade Richardson.
Memorial service will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 4, 2024 at Walnut Grove Methodist Church, Strange Creek, WV.

Daniel L. Dennison
Daniel L. Dennison, 76, of Exchange, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024.
He was born in Riffle, WV on October 17, 1947, to the late James Wayford Dennison and Elsie Virginia Carroll Dennison.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Lee Dennison II, and his brother, Jan Con Dennison.
Daniel was a retired boilermaker with 32 years of service. He owned several businesses including Dennison Home Builders and Dennison Logging. He enjoyed farming early in his life and continued farming throughout his years. A Jack-Of-All Trades, he could do anything well. Daniel loved his friends and he invested much time into his friendships. He enjoyed the neighborhood children and he would take them candy suckers and discuss their days with the kids he knew. He had a big heart and would help anyone. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Robin Dennison; daughter, Donna Kay Huddleston and husband, Frank, of Chapmanville; son, Keith Dennison of Chapmanville, WV; grandchildren, Andrea Adams and husband Nick, Dakota Dennison and Riley Dennison; four great grandchildren; brothers, Wayford Van Dennison of Fort Pierce, FL, James Walton “Walkie” Dennison and wife, Brenda, of Sutton, and Clifford Dorn Dennison of Haymarket, Virginia; sisters, Treva Zellner and husband, Phillip, of Mansfield, Ohio, and Kiso Verton and husband, John, of Burnsville; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his 8-year-old Heinz 57 Shelter Dog, Bella (affectionately known as “Stinkpot”).
Daniel’s funeral was 3 P.M. Friday, May 3, 2024, at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway, WV with Pastor Russell Shaw officiating.
His visitation was two hours prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
In keeping with Daniel’s wishes he was cremated following his service.

Frankie Ann Short
Frankie Ann Short, 89, of Richwood, entered into Heavens gates on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the WVU Summersville Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. She was born February 15, 1935, at White Oak, Williams River, a daughter of the late Sylvester and Nellie Mae Bowers Williams.
Frankie was a homemaker, raising and providing for her children. She was a Christian by faith and enjoyed cooking, reading, crosswords and puzzle books. Frankie and Doy spent many nights singing gospel songs at churches in the area. Spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren put the twinkle in her eye.
Surviving are her husband and best friend of 73 years, Doy Short, children, Rose Short Giles and Richard Allen Short, 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many other extended family and friends made over the years.
In addition to her parent’s, son Larry Jennings Short preceded her in death.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Morris Funeral Home, Cowen with Pastor Mike Malcomb officiating. Burial will follow at the Alex Williams Cemetery, Cranberry Ridge. Judy L. Williams
Judy L. Williams, 76 of Glenville, WV; (Kanawha Drive Community) departed this earthly life in the morning hours of Thursday, May 2, 2024 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV; following an extended illness.
She was born May 17, 1947 in Weston, WV; daughter of the late Lowell and Ruth (Wolfe) Williams.
Judy is a 1966 graduate of Green High School in Ohio and a graduate of Malone University in Canton, OH. She spent most of her working life as a social worker and behavioral health specialist, having also spent time as a teacher in education.
Judy loved caring for children, and was always willing to help anyone in need. She operated a special needs/group home in Florida and started the Summit Center Day Program in Gilmer County. Judy was a member of the Kanawha Drive Church, member of the “Captains Crew” Gospel Group, and enjoyed singing, bowling, spending time with family and friends, and caring for all children in need.
Surviving is her loving daughter, Sandy Williams of Glenville, sister, Deana Green of Las Vegas, NV; and her caregiver, Jackie Bush of Glenville.
Also surviving are a host of cousins, church family, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with her parents, Judy is preceded in death by 2 siblings, Jennifer and James Williams.
In accordance with her wishes a graveside service will be conducted at the Meadow Lane Cemetery near Glenville at 11:00 AM; Saturday, May 4, 2024 with Pastor Donnie Stout officiating.
