Recently John Norman of Monongahela Power, First Energy, presented a $2500 check from First Energy Foundation to Rocky Nutter, president of Gassaway Area Improvement Council. The check, as others from this organization have been, will be used to improve the Gassaway Community Park.
Nutter explained the importance of First Energy’s support to the community. “First Energy and John Norman have been huge supporters of community growth,” the said. “They want to get infrastructure to the point that the general public can pursue healthy activity.” Nutter went on to say that the foundation also supports the Elk River Trail Foundation as well as the county’s convention bureau.
First Energy Foundation has donated more than $3.4million to nearly 100 organizations in the area that First Energy services. “The First Energy Foundation’s contributions to non-profit organizations help strengthen the social and economic fabric of our communities. Funded solely by First Energy, the Foundation extends the corporate philosophy of proving community support,” according to the company’s website.
