VA to Host Town Hall Event at Senior Center

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center (LAJVAMC) is hosting 4 Town Hall events for Veterans, family members and the public to provide feedback on VA operations and recommendations for VA programs. One will be held in Braxton County.
The five community town hall events in WV are scheduled in counties where its main facility and four Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) are located. The meetings are intended to provide local Veterans with a wide-open forum and for VA officials to hear directly from beneficiaries as a step toward improvement and obtaining valuable feedback from Veterans and the communities. LAJVAMC will be introducing the hospital’s leadership staff, educating the community about nationwide and local VA initiatives, and discussing operations and staffing.
Among the VA initiatives that will be discussed at these town halls are the Veterans Healthcare Administration (VHA) Tele-Health Initiative and MyHeathEVet.Gov. The VHA has adopted tele-health as a program to increase Veteran access to high-quality medical providers who may not be in the same geographical location as their patients. Veterans will still visit their local Medical Centers or CBOCs and be seen and attended to by VA nurses, but their doctors will be assessing their patients and making recommendations via video chat. MyHealthEVet.Gov is a service provided to all Veterans enrolled in VHA healthcare that allows them to easily access their medical providers via a chat app, access test results, order prescription medications, request and schedule appointments, and more.
The local meeting will be held at the Braxton County Senior Citizens Center, 23 Senior Center Drive, Sutton, on Thursday, October 5, at 2:00 p.m. Similar meetings are set for Clarksburg, Parsons, Parkersburg and Morgantown.
The meetings are open to the public and the media. The VA is inviting Congressional stakeholders, Veteran Service Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations, and other community partners to participate.
