Sutton Town Council Assists SVFD
With Backup Generator Purchase

The Sutton Town Council conducted a special meeting on Monday, February 27 to discuss finances.
The first item discussed was the purchase of a tractor for the town. Council realized they would need to get bids before they could move forward with a purchase since the total will be over $25,000. Mayor JD Hoover also discussed possible pricing on a blade for the tractor in the future if the need arises.
Next they discussed the Sutton Volunteer Fire Department’s request for assistance in the purchase of a generator. At the previous meeting, members of the SVFD presented council with a quote for the purchase of a Generac generator for $12,800. The generator will be used for the department and annex in case of emergencies and allow them to set the buildings up as emergency shelter in times of need.
After discussing the finances with the SVFD treasurer, council approved to release $7400 to the fire department for the generator purchase as specified in the quote. The motion made by Steve Facemire also noted that if the generator was not purchased, the funds would go back to the municipality.
The meeting was adjourned at 5:22 pm. The next regular meeting will be March 9 at 6:00 pm.
