Municipal Election Ballots Set For Three Braxton Towns

With the closing of the filing period last Saturday, the Municipal Election ballots are set for the June 13 elections in Burnsville, Gassaway and Sutton.
In Burnsville, two individuals will attempt to unseat incumbent Mayor Paul Bragg who is seeking another term. Duane Albert Mattson and Johnnie Verton, who have both served on the city council, are also seeking Burnsville’s top slot. Becky Jackson is running unopposed for the position of Recorder. Only three individuals have filed to fill the five council seats up for grabs. Incumbents Tommy Lee Crutchfield and Steve Wine as well as Chris S. Dean should be elected to fill three of those seats.
Their will be little excitement for the election in Gassaway as the Mayor, Recorder and five councilpersons are running with no opposition. Richie Roach is seeking reelection as Mayor. Walter Lane Jack II, who was recently appointed to the position of recorder, is running for a full term. Rocky Gene Nutter, Sandra Simmons, Lynn Jefferies, James E Criner and Lawerance M. Chapman have all filed for seats on the Town Council.
In Sutton, Mayor J.D. Hoover is seeking another term. Shelly Sutphin is challenging for the mayor’s seat. Robyn Stewart Dolan, a former council member, will be on the ballot unopposed for the office of Recorder. Only four incumbents are seeking reelection to the five council seats. They include Laura Beth Atkins, Jonathan Crum, Catherine Hoover, and Steve Facemire
