BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - The Legislative Oversight Commission on Education Accountability (LOCEA) met on Monday to hear reports regarding the “transformative system for early literacy,” as well as safety and security measures from representatives of the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE).
This marks the commission’s first meeting since last week’s referendum defeat of Amendment 4, the proposed “Education Accountability Amendment.” It came during the Legislature's November interim meeting at Cacapon Resort State Park.
