Monday morning accident claims Maryland woman

A single vehicle accident on Monday, July 11 claimed a Maryland woman and injured three others when  the late model Ford F-150 in which they were traveling crashed on I-79. A second passenger was life-flighted from the scene by HealthNet helicopter while two others were treated at Braxton County Memorial. 

According to investigating officer, Deputy Bradley Pickens of the Braxton County Sheriff’s Department, the truck was traveling north on I-79, near the 74 mile marker, when the driver lost control, crossed the median, southbound lane and struck the hillside.

Patricia Tino, 85, of Adelphia, MD was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the injuries she received in the crash. Her husband John Marshall Tino, also 85, was transported to Braxton County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The driver, William Yanssens, 73, of Ohio, was also taken to the local hospital for treatment. His wife,
Valerie Yanssens, 72 was life flighted to a Morgantown facility for treatment. No additional information regarding the conditions of the three survivors has been released. Burnsville and Sutton Volunteer Fire Departments as well as Braxton EMS responded to the emergency.
