Body discovered in woods just off Salt Lick Road

Braxton County 9-1-1 received a call on Wednesday, May 4 indicating that a logging operation had discovered the body of a human being in a wooded area off Salt Lick Road near Flatwoods. Troopers from the Sutton Detachment of the West Virginia State Police responded.

Upon arrival CPL P.A. Huff, TPR E.W. Clark and SGT K.W. Huddleston found a deceased male who was not initially identified. The officers’ investigation along with assistance from the State Medical Examiner’s Office revealed the victim to be 18 year old Isaac Kevin James Canterbury from the St. Albans area.

The death is considered suspicious at this time. Officers have developed persons of interest and are in the process of collecting and processing evidence left at the scene and other locations.
