Local Easter Activities

Several Easter activities are planned for the April 15 thru 17 holiday weekend in Braxton County. From Good Friday and Sunrise Services to Easter Egg Hunts, community members can find plenty to do, close to home. Be sure to check your local communities to see what other activities may be planned and enjoy your Easter weekend.
There will be an ecumenical Good Friday Service on April 15 at 6:00 P.M. The Burnsville Baptist Minister, Roland Ramsey, will be preaching at the Burnsville Methodist Church that evening. The service is open to anyone who would like to come and reflect upon the sacrifice that was made for the sins of man. We invite everyone to come, share, and celebrate together.
There will be a Good Friday Service at the Engel Chapel Community Church in Gassaway, on April 15th at 7:00 P.M. Rev. Tom Harper, Pastor. Evangelist Dennis Estes will bring the message. Jimmy Howson will be the special singer. Everyone is welcome. Come out expecting a blessing.
The Old German Community Church on Chapel Road in Gassaway will be hosting a Praise and Worship Service April 15th at 7:00 P.M. each night. Pastor Rick Hart.
There will be a Good Friday Service at 6:00 P.M. at the Burnsville Methodist Church. Pastor Roland Ramsey will bring the message. The Community is welcome.
Gassaway Baptist Church will be hosting Good Friday, April 15th at 7 P.M. with the Adult Choir Cantata “Because He Lives,”. Easter Sunday, April 17th Sunrise Service, 7:30 A.M., Easter Breakfast, 8:30 A.M., Worship Service, 9:30 A.M. Kingdom Outfitters 11A.M.
North Sutton United Methodist Charge will be having Sunrise Services at 6:30 A.M., Easter Sunday, April 17th at the Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, Vernon Road, Sutton, WV. Please join us as we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior. Pastor John McQuain.
There will be a Sunrise Service at the First Southern Baptist Church (located on the hill above the Senior Center) April 17, 2022 starting at 6:30 A.M. Service will be presented by Pastor Dave Merry man .There will be music by the Community Choir consisting of members of the First Southern Baptist, Christ Church, United Methodist Church of Sutton and the Sutton Baptist Church. There will be a breakfast provided after the sermon. Everyone come and bring a friend.
There will be an Easter Sunrise Service at the Burnsville United Methodist Church at 7:00 A.M. on April 17, 2022. The congregants of the Burnsville Charge invite everyone to attend this celebration of Jesus’ resurrection from the grave. There were many participants on that First Easter morning. Who might you identify with? The women…the guards…Peter or John… the Angel at the tomb? How many places have you looked for the Savior only to find out “He Is Not Here?” Take another look at the church. Come to this service with an open heart and allow Jesus to dwell there. Free breakfast will be provided in the basement following the service.
The Burnsville Methodist Charge will be hosting an Easter Sunrise Service at the Church on April 17 at 7:00am. The event is open to everyone as we come together early in the morning on the first day of the week to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Breakfast will be served in the basement afterward. We would love to see you there.
Bulltown Association hosts Second Annual Easter Egg Hunt – The Bulltown Association will host its Second Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 16th at the 3:00 P.M at the Bulltown Historical Area. There will be four age groups with two prize eggs in each group. Candy bags for all participants.
Burnsville Lake’s Fifth Annual Easter Egg Hunt – Burnsville Lake is hosting its Fifth Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 16 at 1:00 P.M. Due to a cancellation in weather, makeup date is Saturday, April 23. This free family friendly event will be held at the Burnsville Lake Downstream area. There will be prizes for each age group and an “eggtravagant” amount of eggs to search for. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Burnsville Lake and the Burnsville Lake, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Friends of Burnsville Lake host Annual Easter Egg Hunt – The Friends of Burnsville Lake will be having their Annual Easter Egg Hunt at the downstream area of Burnsville Lake on Saturday, April 16. Registration is at noon and the hunt will begin at 1:00 p.m. Prize baskets for each age group. There will be plenty of candy, as well as special guests! Come out and see us! In case of bad weather, the hunt will be rescheduled on Saturday, March 23.
Gassaway Community Easter Egg Hunt – Kenton Meadows Field Saturday, April 16 at noon. Sponsored by The Pulse, Wee Care Day Care, Gassaway United Methodist Church, The Towne of Gassaway, Davis Elementary School, Piccadilly’s Flower Shoppe. This event is free for all ages.
