Local First Responders Attend Specialized Training at Days Inn

On Saturday, March 26, firefighters from all seven county volunteer fire departments, law enforcement officers, and staff from Days Inn attended an in-depth training class at the Days Inn and Conference Center complex. Being one of Braxton County’s largest facilities, there are many unique fire protection features at the Days Inn not normally found in ordinary dwellings and buildings. The Skidmore Development Company hosted the event. Braxton County Emergency Services Director John Hoffman delivered the instruction. The group learned in detail about the facilities fire sprinkler system, it’s fire standpipe system and other fire safety features.
Additionally, firefighters learned how to operate the buildings elevator’s fireman service override system. Everyone was then trained on how to safely remove occupants from an elevator should it get stuck between floors. The elevator training will enable first responders to apply the knowledge to operate elevators in other facilities throughout their fire districts.
