Like so many of you, I settled in Sunday evening to take in the Superbowl. Jeanine and I were invited to Mary Hunts which is always a good time. Naturally, my diet didn’t fair very well, but other than that it was a very enjoyable evening.
I really didn’t have a team in the game. I had chosen the Bengals primarily because I like Joe Burrow. But, I was content with the really good game it was regardless of who won.
I quickly realized that like most other major occurrences, the game has become over commercialized. I believe there were more minutes of commercials during the first quarter than there was playing time… 4 football plays then five minutes of commercials. But then again, isn’t most everything about money?
Speaking of commercials. I liked several I saw. But, my favorite was the animals with the talking sloth. Now that was funny.
I guess I’m just too old but the halftime performance sucked as far as I’m concerned. The high point for me was Snoop Dog. I like him but not for the reasons you probably think. I am not a fan of his music nor the persona he often presents. I do like the fact that despite the “wild boy” image he is quite a dedicated family man and father. I also find it interesting that he delves into so many things with such a diversity of people.
I do admit that it was quite an extravaganza. My favorite part of the halftime performance was seeing the old cars that were part of the display. Maybe they will have a 60s music theme next year?
I liked the beginning of the game. Both teams were present on the field. Everyone was standing with hats off, for a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem. All in all, it was a great evening with friends and an entertaining game. A pretty good way to spend a Sunday evening. I even managed to get in bed early as my Monday’s always start early. So, I’ll rate the over all show as a 6 out of 10.
