Marvin Roy Davis, 65 of Jumbo, left this life on Thursday, February 3, 2022 of a sudden illness. He was born July 31, 1956 in Buckhannon to the late Roy and Bessie “Ginnie” Howell Davis.
Davis is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vicki Postelwait Davis; two grandkids, Katie and Hunter Davis of Hacker Valley; brother, Butch (wife Margie) Davis of Jumbo; sister, Patricia Riffle of Jumbo; his fur-baby, Timmy; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends who will mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Brian Keith Davis; and brothers, Jerry, Perry, Raymond, Robert, and Homer Davis.
He was a coal miner for almost 46 years and a huge George Jones fan. He was a social butterfly who never knew a stranger. He loved spending time with his grandkids, friends, and family. He would have given anyone the shirt off his back, the last dollar in his wallet, or anything else to be selfless. In the end he always had a sense of humor and was loved by so many. He will always be missed and remembered.
Friends joined the family for visitation on Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 6-9 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs. Funeral Services to celebrate Marvin’s life were held on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home with Pastor Kenny Pritt officiating. Interment followed in McCoy Cemetery, Webster Springs.

Shirley Ann Long, 71, went home to be with the Lord on February 6, 2022 at Braxton Memorial Hospital, Gassaway, WV.
She was born on May 4, 1950, in Tesla, WV the daughter of the late Clarence Chester & Eva Lucille Berry Marsh. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by, three brothers, David William Marsh, Roy Marsh, Eddie Marsh; sisters, Clara Lee Parsons, Virginia Long, Luella Shew.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and was a homemaker. She was a member of Little Birch Community Church, Little Birch.
She is survived by her husband, William Roscoe Long; sons, Bryan Long (Barbara) of Flatwoods, Robert Long (Teresa) of Boiling Springs, SC; daughter, Regina Swecker (Ronald Shaw) of Frametown; brothers, Cam Chester Marsh of Sutton, James Roger Marsh of Gassaway; sisters, Margie Elizabeth Tate of Ohio; grandchildren, Ryan Swecker, Bryan Long II, Gunnar Long, Faith Long; great grandchildren, Heath Jarrell, Natalee Jarrell, Letti Swecker, Axel Kane Swecker.
Upon her request the body has been cremated. A private family burial will be held at a later date.

Edgar Lewis Short, 86 of Cowen passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at home. He was born August 15, 1935 in Camden on Gauley and was the son of the late Grafton and Callie Williams Short. Along with his parents he was also preceded in death by a son, Allan Short and siblings; Jim Short, Virgie Sill, Virginia “Jenny” Spence and Helen Short.
Edgar was a coal miner and had also worked in the woods; he and Wanda attended Arcola Community Church until his health declined. Edgar loved to go bear hunting with his bear dogs, coon hunting, camping, working in the garden or just about anything outdoors. He enjoyed going to his building to “ding”, which meant he was going out to work on his lawnmowers, weed eaters or whatever else he could find to “ding” on.
Surviving are his loving wife, Wanda Short; children, Landis (Teresa) Williams, Bernard Williams, Paul Sill, William (Jeannette) Sill, Treva (Arden) Williams and Kevin (Connie) Short; brother, Delmos (Marie) Short, several grandchildren and great grandchildren and also many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
No services will be held at this time.

James Keith Hurst, 65, of Camden-on-Gauley passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 4, 2022.
Born December 27, 1956 in Richwood, he was the son of the late Herman and Betty (Hinkle) Hurst. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Faye Cox; and his son-in-law, Daryl Morland.
James lived most of his life in Webster County and was a very well-liked man. He enjoyed being on the farm and was a family-man. He loved children, especially his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mary (Prater) Hurst; children: James Edward (Shelley) Hurst of Camden-on-Gauley, Loretta Morland of Craigsville, Joanie (Adam) Chapman of Camden-on-Gauley, Frank Andrew (Libby Culver) Hurst of Camden-on-Gauley, and Annie (companion, Leon) Hurst of VA; eleven grandchildren: Kayla, James Matthew, Alexis, Alex, Ashton, Ian, Hayden, Macy, Paidon, Natasha, and Brittany; 2 great-grandchildren: Isabella and Maria; siblings: Genelda (Woody) Hickman, Frank (Linda) Hurst, Joe (Rose) Hurst, Irene (Chuck) Cooper, Frances Hurst, Bill (Libby) Hurst, Dorothy Hurst, Herman (Deloris) Hurst, Lisa Hurst, Mary Jean Hurst, and Hermanetta Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A gathering of friends and family was held 2pm-4pm, Monday, February 7, 2022 at Adams-Reed Funeral Home, Cowen.

Jerry Richard Bush, 79 of Webster Springs passed away February 4, 2022. Jerry was born November 20, 1942 in Bergoo and was the son of the late James and Velma Deel Bush. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Franklin, Jackie and Jim Bush.
Jerry was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a retired electrician from the coal mines; he was also an avid fisherman and bowler.
Surviving are his children; Joyce “Cansler” Bush and Jeremy Bush and his wife Donna; five grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; brothers, Donnie Bush and his wife Nina, Robert Bush, Charlie Bush and his wife Cathy and Larry Joe Bush; sisters, Edna Wilson, Joann Meadows and husband Jerry and Dinah Rhodes (Lynall); former wife and mother of his children, Margie Jordan and also many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
Friends joined the family for visitation 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs.

Texanna Cutlip Casto, 83, of Thomasville, NC, formerly of Webster Springs, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Atrium Health Pineville in Charlotte, NC. She was born December 30, 1938 in Diana to the late Arlie Edgell and Bethel Mae Hall Cutlip.
She attended Greenwood Baptist Church and enjoyed going to the Senior Citizens Center to visit with her friends, shopping, and eating at the Sunrise Diner in Thomasville. She loved her family and enjoyed working crossword puzzles in the evening with her daughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Ricky Dean Casto; former husband Wayne Casto; brothers Trenton, Gary, John and Shelby Joe Cutlip; and sisters Carol Clevenger and Lena Lowther.
Texanna is survived by her children Becky Sexton, Rodney (Lisa) Casto, Robert (Chris) Casto, Glenna (Brant) Hall, and Kevin (Lorraine) Casto; brothers Jerry and Sam Cutlip; sisters Frankie Gillis, Ruth Brooks, and Joan Robinson; 14 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral Services to celebrate Texanna’s life were held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home. Interment followed in Cutlip Cemetery, Jumbo.
Friends joined the family for visitation two hours prior to Service time at the Funeral Home.

John W. Bollinger, 74, of LaGrange, Ohio, passed away suddenly Saturday, February 5, 2022. He was born February 14, 1947, in Gassaway, West Virginia and had been a Lorain County resident for over 50 years. He graduated from Ravenswood High School and Hocking Technical College. He also served in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Parson’s Dairy, Chemlawn and lnvacare. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and fishing. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Patricia (Bligh): daughters Hollie (Christopher) Taylor of Maumee, OH and Monica (Scott) Smith of Eagle River, AK, grandchildren, Benjamin, Nathan and Lauren Taylor and Zachary and Evan Smith. Sister; Maxine Bartholomew of Amherst, OH; brothers, William Lowell (Karen) of Florence, AZ and Robert (Velma) of Morrison, CO and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leslie and lneva Bollinger; brothers Kenton, Eugene and Jack and sister Eileen Brossman.

Tammy Sue Beckett who was born on July 22, 1974 of Camden-on-Gauley, departed this life on February 9, 2022 at the age of 47 after a 10 month long battle of complications from ventriculitis following brain surgery.
She was a life-long resident of Webster County. Tammy was a very dedicated and hard-working wife, mother, secretary, and homemaker. She took great pride in the upkeep and cleanliness of her home. She loved spending what she referred to as “her time” on the tractor cutting grass.
She had a work hard-play hard personality and lived for adventures including sitting by the fire, camping, boating, and weekend getaways with the love of her life, Wayne and their two sons, Hunter and Parker.
Tammy served as secretary at J&S Hydraulics of Flatwoods for the last 20 years where she was always a ray of sunshine as she greeted her work family each day with that beautiful smile.
Tammy leaves behind her husband, Wayne of 28 years and her sons, Hunter and Parker Beckett of Camden-on- Gauley, WV. She is survived by her mother, Marjorie Williams of Camden-on-Gauley; father, Eddie Williams of Craigsville, WV; brothers, Mike (Lillie) Williams of Little Birch and Kevin (Chrissy) Williams of Camden-on-Gauley; sisters, Kimberly (Drew) Groves of Summersville, WV, Judy Massey of Camden-on-Gauley, Lisa Moats of Hacker Valley, Mallory (Samuel) Kelly of Richwood, WV and Brandon (Chelsie) Williams of Camden-on-Gauley.
She is also survived by her father and mother-in-law, Wilbur and Barbara Beckett of Camden-on-Gauley; brother-in-law, Will (Amanda) Beckett of Camden-on-Gauley; cousin, Dexter (Melissa) Beckett of Cowen; and close family friend, Jim (Angie) Frye of Camden-on-Gauley, WV.
Also left to cherish her memory are a host of nieces and nephews whom she adored and spoiled, Matthew (Tosha) Short of Camden-on-Gauley, Wesley Short and Dakota Short of Camden-on-Gauley, Brittany (Austin) Riffle of Tioga, WV, Spencer and Braxton Williams of Camden-on-Gauley, Alexus Beckett of Camden-on-Gauley, and Claire and Carlie Groves of Summersville, Mackenzie and Owen Kelly of Richwood, and Adilyn and Paisley Williams of Camden-on-Gauley; great twin nephews, Jacob and Levi Short; great niece, Elena Short; and great twin nephews, Maverick and Maddox Riffle of Tioga, who will miss her dearly.
Tammy also leaves behind all of her co-workers at J&S Hydraulics who have become just like family.
Tammy is preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Short formerly of Camden-on-Gauley, WV.
Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 17, 2022 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church Gymnasium, Craigsville, WV with Pastor Jim Varney officiating. Entombment will follow at the Beckett Farm Cemetery, Stroud’s Creek. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Gymnasium.

Woodrow Carson Hoover, 84, of Huntsburg, Ohio (formerly of Cleveland, Ohio) passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at Ohman Family Living at Blossom.
He was born June 2, 1937, in Little Birch, Braxton County, West Virginia to the late Ralph B. and Reva Gladys (Robinson) Hoover. Out of 7 children, he was born the largest, weighing over 10 lbs. He attended Summerville High School, then came to Cleveland for work. He married the love of his life, Lois (Arbogast) April 15, 1957, and would recently have celebrated their 65th anniversary.
He worked at G.M. Fisher Body in Euclid, Ohio before retiring in 1984. After retiring from GM, he worked part time as an electrician.
Woodrow was a member of the UAW, Eagles of Chardon, and Huntsburg Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed 4 wheeling and snowmobiling at their cabin in West Virginia. He was a good carpenter; remodeling 2 homes and he also built a barn. He LOVED playing cards, and the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, boating and water skiing.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Lois, and 2 daughters, Deborah (Matthew Scott) Motil, and Andrea (John Dale) Alden, along with his grandchildren, Garrick Light, Bo L. Adams, and Brandon Light, and 4 great grandsons, and sisters, Aretta Rose, Avenell Pierson, Elaine (Leon) Dillon, Sharon ( Alvin) Roberts, Sheila K ( George) Calkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ralph Hoover Jr. and grandsons Steven H. Adams, and David Scott Adams.
Calling hours were Monday, February 14, 2022, from 12-2 PM until the Celebration of life was held at 2:00 PM at Sly Family Funeral Home 15670 West High Street Middlefield, Ohio 44062. Woodrow was laid to rest at East Claridon Cemetery.

Rosemary Casto, 76, of Sutton, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston.
She was born September 20, 1943 in Marion, OH, the daughter of the late Delbert & Rosalyn Shaw. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Casto; brothers, Delbert Shaw, Donald Shaw; sisters, Betty Schraffan, Janet James.
Rosemary was a retired employee of Vital Statistics in Ohio, and a Baptist by faith. She loved her family and dogs and liked to play Bingo.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Stacey Boggs (Stephen) of Sutton; great grandchildren, Stephen Boggs, II, Mya McCallister, Justin West.
Graveside service were held 11:00 am, Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Skidmore Cemetery, Sutton with Rev. Amy Morrow officiating. There was no visitation.

Clifford Donald Cupp, 77, of Sutton, passed away on Friday, February 4, 2022 at his residence.
He was born July 10, 1944 in Sutton, WV the son of the late, Lenora Hamrick.
He is survived by his daughter, Lynn Cupp of Birch River; sister, Linda Godfrey of Copen; grandchildren, Jalynn Johnson and Keegan Brantley.

Jenna E. Smith (nee James), passed away February 5, 2022 in Carmel, IN. She was born July 28, 1935 in Clay, West Virginia.
She was a beloved mother to Teresa Marie Smith, and James Gregory Smith (Rachelle), loving grandmother of James Isaiah Smith, Katrina Diane Smith and Easton Rance Smith and great grandmother to Sebastian Smith, Zoey Todd, Sayla and Samara Smith. She was the daughter of the late William Ransom and Lelah Mamie James; sister of Evelyn Rogers (Orval;dec), the late Mava Parsons (Lewis;dec), Ellen Taylor (Leo;dec), Joseph James (Pebble;dec), Ransom James Jr (Dora;dec), Paul James (Jean;dec), and Polly Kay Moore (James;dec). Jenna was the aunt of many nieces and nephews, and chosen adopted mother of many many more.
Jenna was a member of Sedalia First Baptist Church in Sedalia, Missouri. Home was wherever she was.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 19th, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton St, Gassaway, WV 26624 with Pastor Rick Garavaglia officiating. Graveside ceremony will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway, WV.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Judy Jane Evans, 73, of Sutton, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Sistersville Center, Sistersville, WV.
She was born January 30, 1949 in Sutton, daughter of the late Frank Freeman and Edith Isabel Groves Davis. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Edward Eugene Evans.
Left to cherish her memory is her sons, Paul Standley Evans and Steven Herold Evans; brother, Louis Malone Davis; sister, Anna Lou Marsh; 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
