Gassaway Baptist Church assists Kentucky storm victims

On December 10 tornadoes hit the state of Kentucky leaving devastation in its’ path.
The death toll in the state has risen to 77, breaking a previous record from 1890 from storm related fatalities.
Last week a team of nine members from the Gassaway Baptist Church traveled to Bowling Green, Kentucky to serve alongside Samaritan’s Purse to assist with relief efforts.
Samaritan’s Purse adopted three towns in the state where they were assisting those affected by the storms: Mayfield, Bowling Green and Dawson Springs.
Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to storm victims.
While in the Bluegrass State, the team helped homeowners clean up storm related debris in and around their homes. While they worked, each member of the team signs a Bible that is presented to the homeowner at the conclusion of their work.
A second team from Gassaway Baptist Church is headed to Mayfield, Kentucky to continue assisting homeowners of the ravaged area.
