Donnie Carl Carson, 81 of Orlando, WV; departed this earthly life in the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV; following an extended illness.
He was born August 19, 1940 in Braxton County, WV; son of the late Alton and Jessie Canfield Carson.
Donnie was a coal miner, a mechanic, bull dozer operator, and also worked in the timber industry. In his spare time, Donnie enjoyed hunting with his brothers, fishing, spending time outdoors, gardening, working, and living the quiet life in West Virginia.
Surviving is his daughter, Carla Carson of Weston, WV; ex-wife, Barbara Carson of Ripley, WV; ex-wife Carol Carson Cook of Lewis County, WV; girlfriend, Anna Dodrill of Little Birch, WV; and 7 siblings, Freda Perrine of Burnsville, WV; Ralph Carson (Ruth) of Gilmer Station, John S. Carson and companion Kate Blake of Buckhannon, WV; Ray Carson of Gilmer Station, Glen Carson (Linda) of Craigsville, WV; Joyce Moore of Ohio, and Mae Johnson of Elkins.
Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other wonderful family and friends.
Along with his parents, Donnie is preceded in death by 3 siblings, Russell Carson, Mary Heater, and Carol Robinson.
A funeral service was conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., 2 Vanhorn Drive, Glenville, WV; 26351 at 3:00 PM; Sunday, December 26, 2021. Burial followed in the Canfield Cemetery near Sand Fork, WV. Friends were received from 2:00 – 3:00 PM; Sunday at the mortuary in Glenville.

Betty Lou Tonkin Brannon, 73, of Glenville, WV passed away December 21, 2021 at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston, WV due to complications from Covid-19.
She was born February 26, 1948 in Gassaway to the late Guy and Mary Stine Tonkin.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Tonkin and Jim Tonkin; and sister, JoAnn Tonkin.
Betty retired from Rite Aid in Glenville after 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, reading and playing solitaire. She enjoyed watching WVU sports.
She is survived by her seven siblings; Genevieve Moore and husband Harold, Barbara Argenio, Norma Jean Binder and husband Phil, Nancy Morrison, Marge Friend, Robert Tonkin and wife Jeanie, William Tonkin and wife Darlene; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was 11 A.M. Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Bender Run Cemetery, Chapel, WV with Reverend Linn Schiefer officiating.

Shirley Jane Eubank, 72, of Flatwoods, WV passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 5, 1949 in Canton, Ohio to the late Robert and Anna Mae Howey. In addition to Shirley’s parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband Shirley Walker Cool, sisters; Nancy Green and Roberta Fondrest; father- in-law Charles Eubank and mother-in-law Ruby Eubank.
Shirley has lived in Braxton County the last 35 years and previously lived in Orrville, Ohio. She was a Christian by faith and attended Shiloh Church. Shirley worked many years as a restaurant attendant.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles Mitchell Eubank; brother Richard Howey of Brewster, Ohio: daughter Tina Dehart and husband Michael of Fountain Inn, SC; sons Michael Cool of Burnsville and Lester Cool of Gassaway. Brother-in-law Harold Eubank and wife Barbara; sister in laws Mary and Doris Eubank. Shirley is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation was held Wednesday, December 23, 2021 from 5:00 to 8:00 at the funeral home. The service was held Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Stockert Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Eric Veltre officiating. Burial followed at Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Vicky Elizabeth Jenkins, 70, of Gassaway, passed away Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at home.
She was born December 1, 1951 in Orlando, FL.
Vicky worked at the shoe factory in Sutton, Gassaway Cab, Go Mart Corporation and for Braxton County Schools. What she enjoyed most was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine Sutton Culverhouse.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 50 years, Johnny Jenkins; children, Shane Jenkins and Amy Jenkins; father, James Culverhouse; grandchildren, Sierra, Courtney, Zachary ,Zander, Elijah, Dane, Phillip and Erica; great grandchildren, Crimson and Indigo; brother, Al Culverhouse and wife, Missy; sister, Carmen Hood; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service was 3 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Morrison Ridge Cemetery, Sutton with Rev. Doug Smailes officiating.

Ralph Calvin Gay, 68, of Burnsville, WV and formerly of Sutton, WV, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Hospice House in Huntington, WV.
Ralph was born on June 26, 1953 to parents Robert Lee Gay and wife Margaret Nell (Friend) Gay who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Roberta “Bobby” Gay.
Ralph worked at Days Inn for many years as a cook. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was an avid West Virginia and Steeler football fan. He will be sadly missed by all his family and especially his grandson Dylan who was his best “budgy”.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Tammie, who he was married to for 35 years; sister; Rhonda Dunning, daughters; Charity (Johnny) Jones, Augusta Gay and Shannda Gay, grandchildren; Makaela Jones, Malik Jones, Tyler Hill, Quan Singleton, Quay Singleton, Trey Singleton and Dylan Stewart; great grandchildren Octavian Hill, Xavier Hill, Colton Artis and Raelyn Jones.
Ralph will be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at later date.

Sandra “Marlene” Facemire, 63, of Sutton passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born February 23, 1958 in Braxton County.
She was preceded in death by her son, David E. Facemire; first husband, Eddie Ball; second husband, David L. Facemire; mother and stepfather, Helen and Leon Facemire; and father and stepmother, Charles and Reba Chaplin.
Marlene was an avid reader. So much that the librarian would call her if there was a new book for her to read. She enjoyed cooking and being surrounded by her family. Family gatherings were her favorite thing to do. She also enjoyed flower gardening and birdwatching. She liked to do word puzzles. She will be missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Heather Facemier of Waverly, WV, Shona Nicholas of Gassaway, and Tanya Clowser and husband Frank of Gassaway ; sisters, Violet Byers of Sutton, Irene Wilson of Flatwoods, Karen Rexroad of Gassaway and Janet Molnar and husband Mike of Newnam, Georgia; brother, Edward Chaplin of Florida; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was cremated.
A private gathering of family and friends was held at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, WV.

Sherri Lynn
(Barton) King
Sherri Lynn (Barton) King born May 30th, 1961 passed away November 21st, 2021.
She was retired from the WV DOH.
She was the daughter of late Russell B. Barton and Leota Maybelle (Newell) Barton. She left behind two wonderful sons, Timothy E. King and Zachary A. King and Wife Elizabeth King.
She left behind four grandchildren Daniel King, Aubrey King, David King and Alexander King. Also survived by 3 sisters and 1 brother. Sheila Norman and Husband Dale Norman. Sisters Pam and Jody. Brother Russell (Butch) Barton and wife Sandy. She left behind several nieces and nephews. Andrea and Husband James Gain, Julie and Husband Mike Beckner, Bryon and Wife Bridget Norman and Terri and Husband Matt Thomas. Brandy Bunner, Phillip Crislip and Scheena Hinzman. Justin Greathouse and Rusty Conrad. Meghan Heiney and Cassie Barton. She also leaves behind her four best friends, Lisa Tanner, Sandy Fowler, Faye Moore and Cheryl Wolfe.

Johnny L. Crislip, 90, of Rosedale, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born May 21, 1931 at Lower Sleith, WV in Braxton County to the late Howard and Sarah Carter Crislip.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Stewart; sisters, Gay Crislip and Glenna Stump; and brothers, Otis Carter, Romey Crislip, Venton Crislip, Olie Crislip, Chanty Crislip, Burton Crislip, Bob “Doc” Crislip, Kenneth Crislip, and Benny Crislip.
Johnny was a United States Army Veteran. He was a construction worker, timberer, and general laborer with a great work ethic. When Interstate-79 was being built he helped build it. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Johnny was the last surviving member of his family.
Left behind to love and cherish his memory are his wife of 70 years, Shirley Ann Stalnaker Crislip; sons Donnie Crislip of Spencer and Paul Crislip of Rosedale; and daughter, Mary Ropp and husband, Harry, of Elkview; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral service was 1 P.M. Monday, December 27, 2021 at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, WV with Elder Larry Fisher officiating. Burial followed in the Crislip Family Cemetery, Lower Sleith.
Visitation was one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Arden B. McCourt, 62, of Webster Springs passed away Thursday, December 23, 2021 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.
Born December 12, 1959 in Webster Springs, he was the son of the late Elijah Shelton and Emi Lee (Hosey) McCourt. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Robert Lee Hosey, Carolyn McCourt, Barbara Knock, Arnold “Snail” McCourt, Mary Simmons, and three other sisters.
Arden made a living working as a sawyer at Jim C. Hamer Co in Curtin. When he was able, he enjoyed the great outdoors, specifically hunting and fishing.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jennifer L. McCourt; children: Shawana (Jamie) Sartin of Gassaway, David McCourt of Buckhannon, Tony (Jordan) Green of Cowen, and Justin McCourt of Webster Springs; grandchildren: Tyler, Ellie, and Sean; brothers: Thurman (Shirley) McCourt, Clifford (Betty) McCourt, Paul (Janie) McCourt; sisters: Donna (Bill) Stephenson and Georgie (Richard) Stout; close friend, Danny Brooks; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Services to celebrate Arden will be held 1pm, Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster Springs, with Pastor Butch Rose officiating, burial will follow at Harrison-Cochran Cemetery, Webster Springs. Friends may join the family for visitation 6pm-9pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Michael “Mike” Lee Harper, 65 of Heaters, WV, passed away on December 24, 2021 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV. He was born February 5, 1956, the son of Charles Dale and Audra Belle Krafft-Harper. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, sister Alice Carol Harper, whom he loved dearly, brother Charles Davis Harper, good friend Nathan Potts, who was like a brother to him and a special niece, Ronda Riffle.
Mike worked over 40 years in the coal industry at Bituminous Services, Salt Lick Coal, Central Coal, Summersville Five Block, Catenary Coal and Brooks Run Mining. He loved animals, farming being outdoors, and spending time with his family. Mike was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather and friend. Mike is survived by his wife of 43 years, Bonnie of Heaters, WV; daughter Dawn (Blaine) Cook and grandchildren; Chloe and Michael Cook of Lost Creek, WV; brother Ronnie (Helen) Harper of Heaters, WV; niece Michelle Barrett; great niece Ashley Teets (David) of Heaters, WV; and Barbara Claypool, who he thought of as an Aunt, of Falls Mill, WV. Mike is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In respect of his wishes, a private graveside service will be held.
